Hex #9 Page 1 Owner: Stuart Lawrence Comment posted on 12/16/2024 You aren't missing anything by not having the 'overlay' in this situation. Whenever the art for an overlay effect is drawn on the principal page (and then covered over) that means the overlay would have simply been a photocopy of the overlay art portion from the main page, pasted on an otherwise blank page. Long since discarded. |

Star Wars #1 (1977) Cover Homage CHAYKIN, PALMER & GERHARD Owner: Charles Costas Comment posted on 9/26/2024 Howard genrally declines to do Star Wars commissions these days. The 'Nam, Issue 42, Cover Owner: Ron S Comment posted on 6/28/2024 Perhaps one of Golden's biggest strengths is his masterful understanding of the use of -space- in his storytelling. Look at this cover. Fully a THIRD of the cover is literally empty space - but that empty space is arguably the most important part of the composition. That empty space tells the story, full of loss and pathos, perfect for the 'Nam. |

Carmine Infantino & Pablo Marcos, Star Wars Splash (Star Wars UK #95) Owner: Greg Goldstein Comment posted on 5/29/2024 I've speculated that the reason behind UK-Weekly exclusive stories was much simpler - a typical US issue was divided into thirds when published in the UK, which left a week every month with content to fill. A few 'inventory' stories were developed to fill the extra schedule. |

Dr Doctor Who Dave Gibbons Stars Fell on Stockbridge 5th Doctor TARDIS 1982 Owner: Matt Carter Comment posted on 5/7/2024 Since there was some delay in getting Season 19 screened in the US in 1982, (the only outlet at the time was Public Broadcasting - PBS stations) for millions of fans, this panel was likely the first introduction to Peter Davison's Fifth Doctor, in any storied format. |

I'm not sure I have ever gone back to that series and read it straight through. I was always missing a couple of issues. About time I got around to it. Thanks for the reminder! ![]() Marvel very much Did Their Own Thing with the property, but, like its stablemate 'STAR WARS' still feels very much coming from the same series bible. Worth putting together a set, should be inexpensive, and fun to see how they dovetailed the ending with 'GALACTICA 1980' a bit. |

"Send this page back to Michael" -- I suppose it was not automatic in those days that artists got the art back, but he wanted the climactic page at least. ![]() Keep in mind that, according to the production schedule used at the time, letterers typically finished their part on a page -before- going to the inker. So, -at the time- that notation was probably written on a not-yet-inked page. |
