When I saw my first Manix piece, I immediately thought "Why does this look so familiar? There's something about his style that gives me a sense of familiarity, but I can't quite place it." After seeing anothe piece or two, Tales of the Beanworld suddenly popped into my head and I knew that's what it had been reminding me of!
This is so fun! Manix's work always evokes images of Larry Marder's Tales of the Beanworld.

I can understand you only having a passing interest in Hembeck's art due to the DC Dateline strips of your youth, but I think it's really cool that serendipity knocked on just the right door with this one and you answered it!

While I can't lie and say I'm a fan of Spidey's head, everything else is exquisite. I like the sinewy build of his body, and I especially love Superman's bulky mass. The clean, minimalist lines are so nice to behold!
While I admit to being exhausted by the entire plethora of single character Hembeck cards that have flooded the market in recent years, there ARE some exceptions which I enjoy, and those are the lower tier characters like Arion, Lord of Atlantis! Mainly because Fred hasn't done them to death, so they feel more original. Besides, 2nd and 3rd tier DC characters from the 80's are fun!
Gotta love Grindberg's method of showing the Surfer gleaming so brightly. He did such a great job of making you believe this was a man made of solid, shiny metal.
As everyone know, Al Milgrom is the stuff of Holy Grails! I've always thought and said that his work on Peter Parker was really good and this is an excellent representation of that. Yes, I'm aware that Hannigan penciled it, and I always thought of him as a very solid and clear layout man, but it's Milgrom's finishes that make this art as beautiful as it looks. Kudos to you and your luck o' the Irish!

I love that McNiven spaced out the throng of heroes in such a fashion as to not make them appear "forced in". Congrats on getting it back, by the way, well done!
