I'm a big fan of flashback scenes, retold origins & important moments in characters' histories, as they not only give you that wave of nostalgia that makes us harken back to those original moments, but they are also a much more affordable way of having art from those special stories and moments. I know your love for the Legion knows no bounds and I know that The Great Darkness Saga is considered to be the high water mark in Legion lore, so this is the exact type of piece I've to see and I'm thrilled to see that you managed to land it and place it into your collection. It's great looking and, well, Supergirl!

The 3rd panel is beautiful. So is the 4th one, but it immediately gave me flashbacks to the opening scene in Saving Private Ryan, which makes me whince!

Nice! These may be the very first Dalgoda original art pages I've ever seen. I never read the title, but remember thinking how Moebius inspired Fujitake was and it was fun to look at back then, just as it is now!

Fantastic! A STUNNING Green Arrow illustration by the legendary Mike Grell. Like most illustrators who painted covers, they typically drew up at least one prelim and then tightened it up to work out the lighting and other aspects. Once they were happy with the overall layout, they typically transferred the prelim onto the final illustration board, either with a lightbox or by freehanding it, then went in with the paints. It sucks that it's not on bristol or any more commonly used paper, but it's still too cool to not get. Congrats, man!

Awesome work, Jeff! That's something I also have always loved doing whenever I bought a strip that had the copyright sticker missing and I didn't know the year. The detective work adds a sense of fun to collecting older strip art. Though I have to also admit, it can also be a LOT more time consuming that this one was for you, especially if you can't help falling down the rabbit hole!

Super simple, clean, classic storytelling! You know, I was never a hard core GI Joe fan, but I did read it for a while but don't remember Duke being anything but a likeable leader. I guess I'll find out the truth about Duke whenever I eventually get around to my 50 issue TPB!

Well, if you can't get the Defenders #1 cover, I guess this is the next best thing! So great to clearly see all four of the original members on the cover, because as you noted, Bill, there aren't many Defenders covers that can boast that. The Buscema/Giacoia art is quite strong and exciting. I appreciate being able to see all the editorial changes as well, but given how many they made and the type of changes they were, I'm surprised they didn't seem to notice that The Hulk could also use an enlarging. Anyway, a great cover from everyone's favourite non-team!

I've never read Challengers of the Unknown, but everything I've ever read seems to indicate that the idea for the Fantastic Four was absolutely taken from Challengers.

A wonderful looking end to a lovely complete short story. Just the sort of thing I would expect you to be interested in!

I love how the enveloped in ink this page is. It helps visualize just how scary it must be for a young child to be lost in the woods all on their own. I love how she's shown coming out of the darkness and into the light of her mother's love. The meaning I infer from this page probably makes it my favourite one of the story!

What a nice coincidence. Tillie Walden came up in conversation on this past Sunday's Hang Out episode! A very nice looking story indeed, CAB. As someone who has long espoused how much more enjoyable the hobby can become when collectors make the decision to stretch their horizons, you are always the first person I think of when the topic comes up. You are in my mind, the quintessential example of it. Kudos!
