Beetle Bailey stems from the time when most American young men served in the military, myself included. I believe it had many positive aspects. Men from different backgrounds shared a common experience and it drew us together. Vietnam ended that. I think some form of mandatory public service (not necessarily miitary) for young people would be a good idea, especially if it could defray the costs of higher education. Anyway the strip by Mort Walker was quite good.
The inspiration, along with Buck Rogers, of all future Outer Space Adventures. Includingthe Star Wars and Star Trek series. Still the greatest in my mind.

It looks more like the Jungle Girl Camilla from Fiction House in the 40's and 50's. Bob Lubbers was one of the artists who drew her.
