Easily one of my favorite stories of the series and one of the best pages from that story. I love the ending.  TEAM HOB!

Facial expressions are on point and the ship being drawn beyond the publish demarcation shows he wanted to get the full piece in to leave nothing to chance.

Yup! He was drawing for the bleed, that's true!

Classic stuff from his studio with different zip being used!  Dalgoda #1 wasn't until 1984, so this is an early rare look.

Creator/writer Jan Strnad thinks maybe it was published as promotional art in Amazing Heroes. I'll have to hunt that down!

I wish there were more basement cons...these huge cons are getting on my nerves.

I hear you. Though that particular con might've been a direct result of the big Javits con being cancelled (a couple of years before it came back in its current incarnation)

Being especially fond of the classic monster movies of the 20s, 30s, and 40s, I find these especially cool but at the same time intrigued because I have no clue why Gray would have rendered these unless he simply did them for fun since these drawings are "supposedly" unpublished.  Great addition to your collection, Jonathan:-)

I was kind of hoping they WERE published as I'd like to see where, ha! Famous Monsters of Filmland? Something else?

Good question! Not sure, actually, I bought as a pair with a Dominic Fortune sketch, who was the character I was aiming for. Really loved his appearance in Marvel Team-Up #120. Really stuck with me as a kid. I haven't read Cody Starbuck yet.
