Great piece, and a part of one of the most comprehensive Ken Kelly collections I've ever seen. Now I know who I'm bidding against at auctions 😂 ![]() Jonny, thanks for the comment. I have not bid on a Ken Kelly painting in over a decade. Ken Kelly is one of the most underrated masters IMO. Who will get his due. His 1970s work is unparalleled. And some of his 1980s work and 1990s work is exquisite too. |

Avengers UK #13 Cover (Wilson/Giacoia) (1973) (Appearance: Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Goliath, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch) Owner: Nick Katradis Comment posted on 1/16/2022
Jason S said:
Interestingly, this cover was posted on Sal Buscema's Instagram account, which suggests he was the penciler, not Wilson.
![]() Jason, hi. This cover was initially sold as a Sal Buscema at Herirage auction when I bought it in 2007. It's not Sal. It's Ron Wilson. When I got the art I knew right away it was not Sal. I brought it to a local con a few years ago and rob Wilson personally confirmed it. The inks are Giacoia. And the background avengers Giant Man and Thor and Iron Man are probably inked by Esposito. |

I would have to say that this particular cover puts an bigger emphasis on the feminine form than the other covers of this period. ![]() Actually I should modify the description as this cover qualifies as a "headlight" cover! Lol. Veronica is smokin' on this cover, actually smoldering hot! Lol |

Archie's Pals N Gals #201 Cover (1988) (Dan Decarlo) ("Bumper Cars") Owner: Nick Katradis Comment posted on 11/2/2021
Marcus Wai said:
Very fun cover as we see what "bumping" means. That New Archies NBC-TV show must have been rare as it only lasted 13 episodes making this a rare cover to have the ad on it. ![]() Wow Marcus. Thanks for the info. I was tempted to mention the ad for the TV show. But I figured most of the newbies that populate CAF these days were not even born in 1987. I also doubt any of them ever read an Archie comic. lol |

Congrats on adding another beauty to your nice 157 Cap collection, Nick! ![]() Bill, nice to hear from you. It's been a long time. I had to hold my nose to get this one. Sadly, it cost me more to get this page than I paid for five of the other pages from this issue combined. I almost let it go. The price points of today make it impossible to buy anything these days. The speculators are here and there is nothing we can do about it. |

Man-Thing #15, Page #26 (Rico Rival) (1975)("A Candle for Sainte-Cloud" by Steve Gerber) Owner: Nick Katradis Comment posted on 9/4/2021
Paul Roach said:
The touching depiction of confused feelings across these two politically divided individuals, both drifting in their own worlds, is ideal. Gerber's story is realised so well by these three incredible artists, making this issue one of Marvel's most stunning bronze age achievements. ![]() Paul, great observation. Yes, Saint-Cloud breaks up with Ted in this panel page citing she would be just a "hippie wife" to his business associates! The genius of Steve Gerber is so evident in this story All comic fans in the 1970s were blessed with his writing. The comic medium was unworthy of his immense talent as comics back then were written mostly for 13 year olds. Sigh! |

Man-Thing #15, Page #03 (Rico Rival) (1975)("A Candle for Sainte-Cloud" by Steve Gerber) Owner: Nick Katradis Comment posted on 9/4/2021
Paul Roach said:
So jealous. Each of these Rival pages is a masterpiece, and you have 8 of them, Nick! Amazing. The framing of the third panel is just superb. The story was so unexpected and imaginative. A great page from a classic, special issue. ![]() Paul, thank you for the kind words. I love grail pages like this. I have been looking for the rest but to no avail. As we get older, we realize our own mortality and come to grasp with the fact that we wont be here forever. And sadly, even our love for comic art will eventually waine. But I think we have a decade or two more to collect. (sorry for the macabre ravings. lol) |

Jim Aparo Batman 561 pg 15 Owner: Marc W Comment posted on 9/4/2021 Marc, a classic and historic splash. Aparo was "the Batman artist" for most of us that grew up in the 1970s. He was unparalleled as an artist to me. His Batman, Spectre, Aquaman, and Phantom Stranger was the zenith of art. He drew, inked, and lettered most of his work in the Bronze Age, and he never submitted a late assignment. The utmost professional. Bravo on a stunning piece of art. |
