Shane - as I've told you in private, this is just an outstanding addition and I'm stoked for you that you were able to add this to your collection. Your framing is top notch, too.
A great piece. Loved it when I saw it last summer but bought the other IM3 piece. Wish I had money for them both but it looks like its in a good home. Thanks for sharing.
Nice one - this was part of Adi's "sketch of the day" experiment he did in 2012, can't remember the month though. I missed the one by a few minutes, curses work, you spoil all the fun! :)
I am having a wall mounted acrylic case made for it that allows for easy removal of the book.
Damn Alan, you've done it again! How many grails do you plan to own? Wonderful.
Awesome piece. I didn't know if Adi's work could get any better, then he started doing more color work and it really took it to the next level.
I was going to ask 'how the hell did you snag this' until I read your description. I really wanted his Iron Man Mark 1 sketch but sadly work intervened most days to thwart me. Congrats, man!
Great piece. For those that are not aware, this art was used on the card front for one of the Hasbro Marvel Universe action figures. I think around 2009.
Are you kidding me? Takes my breath away.
Nice to see this up on CAF. It's more stunning in person, trust me people. I'm glad it found it's way to a devoted and deserving collector. I hope you'll allow me to keep my avatar pic!
Just a great page. I respect the hell out of BWS and his work. His later stuff, he definitely developed a very detail style.
Just a fantastic recreation by the incomparable Bob Layton. This is one of those covers on my list of things I'd like to own but knowing the chances are slim I'll ever land it I might have to go the commission route as well. At the very least a Bob Layton cover commission is definitely on my OA bucket list.
Always loved this image. I've still got that dogeared issue somewhere in the attic. Fantastic addition, as always.
Mucho respecto. Dorman is great and a pre production Joe piece just rawks.
Wow, that is just stunning. Super sized congrats on this. If you don't have this professionally framed and hung above some mantle somewhere there is something wrong with you! ;) Enjoy.
Ron, love it love it love it! And as always your detailed commentary is probably the most interesting read on CAF.
What a special thing it is to own a page from that historic first issue. Congratulations and thank you for sharing.
Always nice to see another Demon In A Bottle interior on CAF. That show near DC must be great to get a gem like this. I gotta hit that up sometime!! Nice add.
Riccardo, please let me know if you ever sell this page. I am a big fan of this issue.
I am actively buying interiors to this specific issue of Iron Man. I know this piece sold, but if the new owner sees this comment, please contact me through CAF if you ever want to sell.
Very nice two character set up with an original background to boot!! I so loved this series.
Agreed, a great splash. I had my eye on this one at one point as well. I had wondered where it had gotten off to - so glad to see it back on CAF. Congrats again.
I like that Iron Man guy. I think he'll become a popular hero for Marvel. ;) Fantastic addition, I'm definitely jealous, as an Iron Man splash page collector.
Great page, nice early Machine Man. What is that, the second or third appearance issue perhaps?
"The right page" indeed! This would be a crowning jewel in many a collection. Congratulations are certainly in order here.
Romain - this is just a great page. You've got some nice pages from this issue but this page stands out to me. I just love the way Tuska used the panel-less collage type images to convey a story. He did it fairly often during his lengthy Iron Man run and I've never been able to acquire one of those pages. It's sort of a quiet signature of his. Congrats on a really nice piece.
Great page. I just re-read that story from the Essentials Volume 1 a few weeks ago. Love that early armor.
That's friggin' awesome. I love little bits of art collectibles like this. Must be nice to have been on George's Christmas card list.
If I had to pick an artist to draw monsters, Starlin would make the short list. Great page Romain!
A fantastic image to an iconic poster!
Lee, what a great page. I've always loved the whole Vision and Scarlet Witch dynamic. Congrats.
Wow, Shane, that is incredibly impressive. I don't really collect Spidey, but THIS is one page I wouldn't mind having. Congrats on such a fantastic acquisition to your collection.
Beautiful. This would be nice to pair with the b/w art that was sold a while ago. I think the work of the colorist is greatly underrated, and the old school methods are definitely a dying art with the advent of scanning and computer coloring.
Very nice page. As much as I enjoy Colan's pencil's, for me this page is really brought to life under the weight of Palmer's inks - a fanstastic inking job as always.
That's just beautiful. It looks like it could be a poster or a print.
So cool. I've had this color version saved on my computer for awhile and toyed with asking Bob if I could also use it as a card one year.
