That other page is even better! And I commented on it a few years ago, so my memory isnt what it used to be lol. Looking forward to seeing your third page.
Very cool! I've never (to my recollection) seen any Valentino pages from this book pop up.
I dig it! I've gotta reach out to Stephen again.
Killer page. Great, brutal story.
Very cool, Paul. I've seen the color guide for this cover out there also not too long ago. But you must have the largest GOTG cover collection by now!
Very cool Shaun, I'm digging it. Thanks for posting the inks only version also.
Absolute killer page from a very memorable issue, Paul, congrats! I don't believe I've ever seen this page out in the wild before.
Whoa, congrats Shaun! IMO, this is the best cover from West's GOTG run. Very cool.
Congrats Paul, great cover. And thanks for posting such a nice scan. Yeah, the time for picking these up cheap is long gone. Glad I have my examples, but kind of wish I went after more covers when I sort of had the chance!
Oh man, killer piece!
Congrats Arnie, I thought this one was priced right. Very tough to find Anderson inked Flash pages from when he came back onto the book's interiors in the late 140#s.
Killer page! This is actually page 2 (page 1 is a panel page). But I own a page from this issue also--I loved the Baron/Guice issues. A super early annual during the run--IIRC, this actually came out after issue #2!
Hey Bill--
My bad, I put the credits in the room description, rather than on each page (for faster uploading, and partial laziness)--but this is actually my script / fan-fiction version of GOTG #28, with Steven Baskerville on art!
Fantastic image, with Byrne still at his peak. I remember when this came out.
Thanks, realism is one of the goals!
The published GOTG #28 has an interesting history, with a large amount of people being used to create the finished product.
Valentino was leaving the book with that issue (hence no pencil duties)--he had a story he wanted to tell and characters he wanted to use, but the editor and another writer were blocking their use. Due to tensions at Marvel, his story being limited, and the strain of starting image--he turned in a lackluster script. The script was also likely heavily reworked after being sent in.
Trimpe was used for pencils--but Trimpe also pulled his son in to do layout duties.
Then, inker Montano was credited on the book--but at this time, Montano also had two ghost inkers assisting him.
So there were probably at least seven people involved between story and art! It was certainly a time of transition.
Hi Marcus--I put the credits in the room description, rather than on each page (for faster uploading, and partial laziness)--this is actually my fan-fiction for GOTG #28, with Steven Baskerville on art!
Glorious. Absolute history on this page.
Whoa, awesome. This was such a killer storyline from a great run on the series.
Congrats Arnie, great page from a killer story.
Congrats! Only 10 of these covers (plus a couple variations) in the run. Fantastic acquisition.
Awesome! This was a real fun series, I loved it at the time. It harkened back a bit to the innocence of the silver age.
Great page from a brutal What If issue.
Congrats! This is an all time favorite issue of DD from childhood for me, also. Magic.
Sid Greene inked this story-- although I could see how the lady in the first panel certainly looks like Anderson a bit. Awesome page!
Fantastic, congratulations. I have fond memories of early issues of this series, as well.
