No kidding! I guess it was sort of a low point for movie adaptations, but there still would have been a good enough market for it.
I don't think Nebres ever gets enough credit for some of the really cool work he did during this period. The page structure on this one is really inventive, as is the way he starts to sort of liquify the figures in the big panel. And you know I love some Chris Claremont text too.
Very cool page! Really interesting to see Ayers' take of the FF. Pretty nice page that sums the whole team up really well.
Great page from a killer run! I think this was my favorite Byrne period on Avengers. I started reading a little after this after Byrne left, so when I tracked down these issues, they were just so good. And the big grab in the first panel is just such a memorable moment.
This one's great! The series really started picking up around this point, and this is where the stories started getting really memorable. There are some great shots of Cerebus and even an Earth-Pig mention. Terrific page!
I was a big fan of the Squadron Supreme, so it's fun to see them on the other side of things here. That Black Knight/Grandmaster panel is absolutely killer!
Really cool page! There are some really classic Adams poses and motion on this one. Deadman was my favorite Adams run and this one's a great example.
I haven't listened to that episode yet, but it's in my queue. You just moved it up to the top! Those guys have done a great job on that podcast.
That's what I love about this page, there are little allusions like that to all sorts of things. It's like every square inch has its own planned significance.
Amazing piece! The figures on the far left embody the look of Totleben's art for this part of the seroies. And you're completely right about these pages' place in the story. Some of the best of the best, for sure!
Just a beautiful cover! I've always thought all the covers from the New Defenders run were really nice, and this one's no exception. A lot of them were pinup shots of the team, and are pretty, but the action on this one sets it apart for sure!
Love it! This run was so crazy! That's a great example!
Wow, that's a great one. Such intricate linework that you could stare at it all day.
I like it! These early issues of Wolverine were solid, and Buscema/Janson is a really good combo.
That's a pretty cool layout. Those Defenders stories from this time were all so unique and crazy.
One of may favorite issues as a kid. I distincly remember that panel of Megatron on his throne, absolutely abusing his troops.
Nice! Hard Corps was a really good book. Very cool first appearance!
Nice cover! I think I like the published one better. Not necessarily the Tower vs. the arc, but more because I think the bigger figures make for a better image. Nice score from a classic run!
I like both, but I think I like the design of the unpublished version better. I think the poses make for a better cover layout.
Nice page from a great run! These Patch stories were pretty fun.
Really nice! There weren't many Jim Lee Colossus pages, since he was an amnesiac artist for the first part of Jim Lee's run and on the other team for most of the last part. I remember being really excited to see him back in action when this came out. Just a great page!
Yeah, I definitely like this one a lot too. Really nice! Definitely one of the best covers from teh later part of the series.
Wow, really nice. I think Shadowman was the only Valiant book that I stayed with until it ended. Bob Hall did such a good job with the whole run, from when he took over. This is a killer DPS.
Really nice cover! I remember this disappearing from the stores when the Secret Weapons series was announced, back when anything Valiant was instantly worth more than cover price. Harbinger was one of the best books and I never missed it. Everything in the first 25 issues was classic. And this cover, with Harada standing above the fray, is really symbolic of that character's role in the entire series.
Really nice page! Full of action! The first panel is especially cool.
Really nice! This was such a great series. This page really shows some of the internal philosophy struggles that made the book so great.
Cool page! Starlin from this timeperiod is great, and this is a really nice one!
Milk and cheese - so bad, yet so good! Exactly what you'd want in a page of thiers!
A great book! I didn't know he sold anything from it. Really nice score! Congratulations!
Only half a page, but still killer! Really like the JSA stuff from the early Silver Age. Something about it was just so of-the-time and cool.
I remember reading this when it came out, and loving it. And it certainly stands the test of time. One of the best Jim Lee X-Men sequences ever.
Me too! I remember getting a few comics from a gas station, including the first Megalith issue. It was just completely different. I remember being facsinated by the promo ad for Armor #1 in that issue too.
This is a cool cover! A lot going on, and a giant jungle spider!
