Thanks. Be sure to check out the other Broadway Comic pages in my gallery. I really liked the comics they produced.
Well... Lorne Michaels cashed out. He sold the company to a publisher that wasn't interested in publishing comics.
I agree. This is the time frame when J.G. jones went from being a good artist to a great artist. Jim Shooter had a knack for teaming up new talent with veteran and highly skilled inkers.
My understanding is that Joe James either owns the first three color art covers or they are set aside for him.
I don't feel it is accurate to call these color guides. Just my opinion. Defiant used a different process.
I was a big fan of the first two series, and lost all interest in Budd's work after it went to Avatar. Don't care for the T&A aspect of it all now. Obviously that's where the money is. This page stopped me dead in my tracks when I saw it for sale at Heroes Con. It was my favorite page in the book.
Yes, I talked to Budd about the cat. Evidently, Caliber really pumped up the black ink for their books and it cause the detail and the exploits of the cat in that issue to get lost to most readers. The cat has a little adventure of his own which is fun in and of itself.
Budd told me that if the phone rings while he's drawing, he has a habit of just writing phone numbers or notes on the edge of the drawing rather than looking for scratch paper. That was his explanation when I bought this page.
Nice page. I have some art from this issue, but it may be awhile before I get to posting it.
Back when I bought this, Budd was charging twice as much for the Dinosaur pages than he was the Meriem pages. I wanted all the Meriem pages. When I get a chance I'll scan some of the other pages I own.
