It's pencils & inks. Some/all of Nicola's art for the 3rd issue were printed directly from the pencils without being inked (and the few I saw in person were amazing), but the rest of the art was done the standard ink-over-pencil way.

Awesome! This was my first Batman comic, got it when I was 4 and read it to death. I always loved that scene in the batcave. Nice score :)
