Really nice work here. You can feel the expressions that Howard are emoting.
Beautiful page. Love the very clean inks by Esposito here. If I remember correctly, Doc Savage and Spidey never meet, due to some copyright issues.
Great page Lee! Really loved Giacoia's inks over Andru pencils during this time period. And as always, Dave working some great background inks.
That's really nice. Sal was great on Spectacular Spider-Man and I really enjoyed his early issues on the series. RIP Sal.
Love this issue and the Andru/Giacoia combination. The Spider-Mobile has a lot of haters, but not me! I do wonder if Ross based the two shadowed figures on real people. Thanks for sharing.
Neat page. This is supposed to be the power plant by the 59th Street Bridge (now the Queensboro Bridge), but Ross didn't draw that power plant in GS SM 2. This is the same power plant that Spidey and the Shocker go at in ASM 152.
That's the coolest thing I've seen on here in a while. I think it's awesome the way it stands right now.
Lee, just an amazing piece. I remember loving the artwork in this issue as a kid. The inks are fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Great page, thanks for sharing. I always love the little notes on the art boards, here, about coloring the door correctly, making sure it is steel and not glass, to show the power of the villian.
Awesome page Fred. Classic Spidey climbing page here. Andru was usually very consistent, panel to panel, issue to issue, but I do see the few items he changed from the end of the last issue to this splash.
The 1978 Spider-Man Calendar is one of my all-time favorite comic related items and this is the cover image. Just amazing painting by Joe Jusko. Thanks for sharing!
This amazing splash was from the second issue of the series I bought and brings back fond memories. Irv is my all-time favorite Flash artist. Thanks for sharing.
I always wondered if Ross modeled his nuclear facility after a real one. Nice shot of Doc Ock. Thanks for sharing.
I commented on this page 15 years ago, and it still caught my eye as I was perusing this site. Really love the art combination here, as I feel Leialoha's inks really give Buscema's pencils a pop. As always, thanks for sharing.
That's an art team you don't see working together every day. Thanks for sharing.
Whoa, that's really nice. Love the bottom left immensely. Thanks for sharing.
Loved this issue. Thought Perlin inks worked well with Ross's pencils. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful page, especially love that last panel. Novice does a great Batman.
Thanks for sharing, on what would have been Ross's 98th birthday.
It's a team you don't see everyday. I love that both artist's unique styles are balanced in this page. Great page, thanks for sharing.
Especially that second panel. Almost feels like you could touch the Hulk's face.
Great page. Bagley brought some new perspective to the series when he joined. I had a couple of pages from this time period as well, wish I had kept them.
Yes, very nice cover by Alex. Thanks for sharing.
Nice page. Yes, love these early Punisher appearances.
Great example of Ross's use of dynamic motion in that first panel. Very nice.
Awesome page. It's amazing how much Ross improved drawing Spider-Man from issue 1 to issue 3 of MTU.
I'm always amazed at how close these preliminaries are to the actual published covers. The only real difference I see on this one is Spidey's right leg altered to make it a bit more dynamic on the finished cover. Nice piece, thanks for sharing.
Andru and Giordano made a great team. Nice cover, thanks for sharing.
Great page. Love Sal's work on this series and Palmer's inks work really well. It was a fun book and I think I had most of them, but haven't read them in a while. You mention Len (I assume you mean Wein) but the other person running with Sal is Marv Wolfman. A bunch of the Marvel staff appear in this issue, but I don't think Len is in there. Thanks for sharing.
My dad was stationed in Hawaii in the early seventies, so loved watching the Kamen Riders on TV. Thanks for sharing.
Ugh, can't you post something that isn't complete waste of space! But joking aside, great page by the amazing John Byrne and probably the best description I have read on this site. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, this is actually Mike Esposito inks with Dave Hunt uncredited background inks. Not Mooney.
I remember picking up this issue off the stands back in the day. This would have been my third issue and got me going down the collecting path as well. Loved Andru's work on the series. Great page from this fondly remembered issue. Love the bad guys dialogue about Not Wanting to get Shafted. So 70s. Thanks for sharing.
These early Spectacular Spider-Man issues were so much fun. Great page. Sal Buscema was doing some of his best work on these stories, IMHO. Thanks for sharing.
Love finding stuff like this on original art. Yes, that finger is longer than humanly possible. Thanks for posting this hidden gem.
Never in a million years would I think this combination of penciller and inker would work. Never. But gosh, this looks really good. I love Andru but his ladies were just a little above average, IMHO. But this is really, really nice. He captures Shanna perfectly and the inks by Colletta compliment his pencils nicely. Great pages, thanks for sharing them all.
I'm always amazed at how closely Kane's preliminaries matched the final art. True with both covers and interiors. The biggest change here was the use of a transparent wind shield on the front of the motorcycle, but everything else didn't get altered much, if any.
Very nice Andru art. I love all the notes to the colorist, trying to make sure the story makes sense.
That's really, really nice. The art definitely captures the vibe of Dazzler. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I think this is a fun take on MJ. It's like it needs to be captioned, along the lines of "Mr. Parker has no idea what he's in for!" Thanks for sharing.
That front row + the Vision is as good as it gets. Agree that Frank did a great job inking this piece. Not a fan of the Beast here nor the Giant Man. But that's just me nitpicking. Great piece, thanks for sharing.
