B HAMM this is one hell of an image that truly brings the same feeling I had when I first picked this book from the comic book store rack in 1986 at the age of 13. This Kevin Lashley character really did one hell of a BADASS job here. Hope he is at the right price and in the right mood to create another nostalgia evoking image.
You lucky dog, you! I wish that I had known Al Rio had such a piece in existence. I have some of his art and this is really special. Especially for a fan of the screen sirens of yesteryear. Beautifully rendered and very HOT! Nice score. Terry is a nice guy too so I am certain the acquiring was smooth. Just like the beautiful artwork. SWEET!
Big Bad Bill has always been a favorite of mine and pieces like this only exemplify why. Incredible.
Everyody sweats Stelfreze for his watercolors but Mack would give him a go. Love the work he did on Alias. Great piece of art here.
Though not my favorite cover from this series; it is a beaut. Just yesterday, I was reminding my brother that this incredible series started with Tony Moore art. Charlie Adlard definitely gives a more realistic feel than Moore's more cartoony styling. I read this series from issue one and have not missed a single issue. Moore art from this series would be rare and amongst rarities; this is a real gem. Love it.
Damn, Pete. Cliff kicked total ass on this piece. I love the inks. I like how he made the figures "pop" by keeping the background white with a light ink outline. Cool as hell commission.
Have to agree with all here. Zeck really shines here. The different tones and the use of negative space with the detail is great. It's just about as good as it gets.
I loved his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8. This is my first time seeing him do super hero stuff and Cap is a childhood fave, You are right; Georges knocked it out the park and then some. Love everything about it!
Sienkiewicz is a genius. This is beautiful. Wish I had that kind of bank. Or, at least a wife that would let me spend that kind of bank. Happy to appreciate it here. The colors are terrific and I bet it looks so much more magnificent in person.
So jealous. I am a huge FRINGE fan as well and this definitely caught my eye on the show. I wanted it myself but did not think taht it would ever actually be available. I thought either Joshua Jackson ( or Rosario Dawson, if they were dating at the time) would have snagged this. Great find. So lucky to have tyhis habging in your office. Jonah Hex looks great here. Classic.
George Perez was a HUGE contribution to both of these book ( I know; HUGE understatement with regards to THE TEEN TITANS). The TEEN TITANS will forever be my favorite comic of my youth. I just loved that team ( back when Marv & George were there. Don't read much superpowered stuff anymore. As a TITANS fan, I am sad to admit that they are outmatched here. Maybe Robin (Dick Grayson) could get past CAP. I think STARFIRE would mop up IM. Only other winner possibly would be RAVEN but she'd just turn Scarlett Witch all HOUSE OF M and erase 'em all. HAWKEYE kills SPEEDY. WONDERMAN kills his Russian counetrpart (STAR something, right?) HERCULES is not bothered by a lasso that compells the truth. He has always been honest with regards to his pompous self. VISION disrupts CYBORG. KID FLASH loses this race. QUICKSILVER is too battle proven. I hate to say it, but my TEAM loses this one. BATMAN HELP!!!!!!!!!!! Love the art. PEREZ is a GOD. Still got it and seems that he always will.
Tom, your coloring on this Perez piece is awesome. Great image. Got a new desktop screen saver. Thanks for posting.
Ajmal, I do belive that this is from IDW (I think) CONAN # 15. It is only a 3 page story. The entire story is in different galleries on CAF. Serach Bruce Timm Conan and you will see it. Awesome art.
I heartilly agree with Eric Delos Santos. This cover made me want to open this book up right away. One awsome image. Congrats!
I am sooooooooooooo jealous right now. Awsome aquisition. Glad the cover means so much to you memory wise. The New Teen Titans by Wolfman / Perez was one comic that I had to get as soon as it hit the stands. Always loved this cover and still have the entire run of the series in my hands. Fond memories. I know this thing cost a pretty penny and am certain that it was worth it. Congrats, man. One lucky dude indeed.
Very nice. I loved Leonardi on these characters. It would be interesting to get some history. How old is this?
Pencil proficiency! Damn that is BEAUTIFUL. Not familiar with this artist but will definitely keep an eye out. Personally, I've grown tired of WOLVERINE throughout the years but this movie poster quality art makes me smile at the lil' runt. The pencil work is so awesome that it needs no inks. That being said; if this were mine, I'd try to get the artist to add ink to the spots that he'd place darkest blacks. This is only due to the red blood splatter. It would POP that much more. Great piece anyway.
Hot graphic design. Vibrant colors. Nice rendition of a fave character. Cool.
SMOKIN" HOT!!!!!!!!!!!! That is one SWEET BATMAN image. I love the shadows, the details, the buildings, the moon, the BATPLANE; ALL OF IT!
Beautiful page from a beautiful story. Classic Timm all the way. So cool to have the dialogue on the page as well. Gotta admit, Timm's signature with the Joker is awesome too.
This should have come with a GRAIL ALERT warning! This cover definitely brings back fond memories. I was 12. Marvel Age was a book that I looked forward to each and every month. Ron Frenz cranked out consistently great MARVEL SUPERHERO ART and I definitely liked his run on STAR WARS better than any other artists. Thanks for sharing this. Great score.
Being a huge PREACHER fan and a fan of Fabry's covers for that series; I must admit to liking this above all of the PREACHER covers! Yeah, that lil' Spidey is awesome too! Howard is perfect. Love the expression on his face at that looming shadow of a certain Cimerian. Colors and technique are wonderful. Very nice.
This is a very nice composition, Shelton. I also enjoy the way you decided to render the hair in this one. Nice.
Simply sweet! THE DUDE does it again. Peter's expression is priceless.
I agree with Michael Finn. Great artist to interpret these great and loved by myself characters. Both are great and I do understand why it was hard to choose but if I had to; I prefer the second one. Great commissions.
Damn! I wish I had $6,000.00 to put down on this. We all know how extremely talented Mr. Ross is but, this piece right here is phenomonal. Love it!!!!!
I love the fact that there is a "face" there. The scowl is simply incredible. The tight pencils and fine inking don't hurt at all either. I, too, like this BATMAN better than Finch's (despite the fact that similarites in style exist twixt the two) and the realistic look of the character trumps Jim Lee's superheoric take on the character. I'm interested in seeing my favorite Dark Knight interpreted in a matter that is further removed from the Jim Lee BATMAN that has become the "standard" All in all, AWESOME IMAGE and would I would ogle at everyday if I were so lucky to have it hanging in my humble abode.
Sir, I concur! I loved all of the Marvel Conan comics and Joe really brought John Buscema's Conan to "life" for me with this image. I remember staring at this painting as I am now. Thanks for posting this one. Just beautiful!
HELLS YEAH! Rick killing zombies rendered by Tony Moore. I'm going to have to get one of these! I have to agree with the sentiment about this being the best one seen in a while. This is nice and should you ever wish to part with it; I have an open spot on my wall waiting for this.
Not the Golden or Silver Age; but you gotta love $ .60 comics and covers that compel you to read a story rather than just grab a cool poster/pinup of some cool character(s).
Definitely agree. It does look better in B & W. To be fair, it always does to me. I do like the composition of the characters, particularly Cap on the horse and Black Knight. Love the Widow's hair as well. Nice score and I am willing to bet that this piece of art will foster more fond memories than the DVD release of that Avengers movie soon to come.
This is just beautiful. I love the composition and the balance of the blacks and whites.
Love your work, Steve. Takes me back to my youth drooling over Dave Stevens covers. You are definitely your own artist and I love the way you depict your females. I would love to see your take on the entire cast of this crazy cartoon drama. Seriously, Molotov Cocktease never looked so good. Thanks for posting.
I don't usually comment on pinups. They are suppossed to be of attractive females. That being said.... this is HOT!!!
I don't usually comment on pinups. Heck, the subject is an attractive female. That being said... this is HOT!!!
Beautiful. I love the rich darkness of the page. Nice work that leaves me intrigued to see more. Thank you for posting.
I love Brain Steelfreeze but he must have started drawing the Joker and forgot he was suppossed to do Nightcrawler!
Very Finch like. I like it. Platt has always had awesome details. His anatomy exageration is sometimes too much for me. This is perfect.
Damn nice Bisley. It's very cool that it is pen & ink. I know that if he painted it, it would look great (especially the colors) but, being pen & ink only makes it that much cooler to me.
And to think that John Buscema said that FM could not draw!?! Look at those cops! Awesome page from a great book and great artist. Yeah, I love me some Buscema (especially when he inks himself) too! Again, awesome page.
This is an awesome DPS, Thor. I enjoyed pages 1-3 leading up to this as well. Some nice pacing and storytelling skills. I love KICKASS and BATMAN (Jim Lee influenced a whole slew of artists as far as interpreting THE DARK KNIGHT, didn't he?) in particular in this image. That battle baton in mid fall really says it all. Oh yeah, have to admire the KIRBY effects around GL. Overall great job and I am sure to see more.
Thor, that is one KICKASS WATCHMEN image! Great job. Love the composition, the detail, craftsmanship, and that KIRBY CRACKLE!
