Wow, that's a mindblowingly cool Bob Peak paintig. Congrats! Never saw this before and it might be one of the best Peak's I've ever seen.
This is just outstanding! WOW...Always admired Caras' work, but this Holland piece takes the cake. Cudos to you my friend for obtaining this.
What a KILLER painting...And a great one of Steve Holland to boot. I've been on CAF for several years and just now looked through your whole gallery - it's just absolutely incredible. I don't know how you did it...but you did! Cudos to you. I can see I have a LONG way to go, but I'm on the road : )
That's a great piece - Congrats. I bought some of Larry Salk's Monroe drawings a while back, he was such an amazing artist.
That's a really great painting. Wow, Lesser always kills it. Congrats on getting this : )
Litterally everything in this illustration is great. WOW, a sci-fi masterpiece.
Wow - that is one of the most beautiful Mitchell Hooks paintings ever!
Hi George What are you asking for this one? I actually missed out on it when it sold originally at HA, but then stumbled on it again here! I also asked you about another piece a little while ago, but never heard from you. That one is an illustration with a bunch of refrigerators, like a factory setting, I like that one too. Feel free to respond to my private email: warmingnyc@gmail.com Thank you! Best wishes, Thomas Warming
This one was actually painted by pin-up artist Harry Bradly. His son modeled for the kid and his name is....Dennis!
Yes, Walter Baumhoffer painted the same scene in color. I have never found out where either was published sadly.
Yup that's what I meant - thanks. ; ) Yeah, I'm a bit surprised myself that I actually got this. Not a big fan of religious art in general. But it is just so well done it's crazy. A lot of great artists did this kind of work too though. If I stumbled on a religious Andrew Loomis painting I'd jump on that too in a second. The funny thing with Zingaro's religious art is that often his women depicted in those scenes are just a little bit too hot for the subject matter. Not in this case (sadly) but I do think it's funny that he just couldn't help himself.
Yeah, I love Enric's work. The outline though is not typical for his style but it's a part of the transfer process from pencil to painting. He works from photo reference and typically when the sketch is done he'll redo the outline and main pointers over carbon paper to whatever medium he's going to do the painting on. That way he gets the precise outline of his sketch transferred but also "ruins" the sketch, if you look at it that way. Some project the sketches but mostly it's done this way because it's easy and fast. Usually you can look at the back of a pencil sketch on paper and you'll notice the outline is done way harder than the rest of the illustration - that means it was transferred. Anyway, sketches aren't really meant to be seen or printed but in his case I still think it's pretty cool.
Awe-some…makes you wanna play guitar and blow stuff up!
These are just great! - Sometimes though, I can't believe how badly some cover art is actually produced when the original art is so well done. I mean, could they make it any smaller on the cover?!
I remember considering putting a bid on this back in the day - It's got a great feel to it -very noir and cool - I ended up going after something else, but I'm glad it found it's way to you : )
Yeah he must have done more than he ever wanted by now. But like you say he always makes a totally unique drawing.- and most artists now in Con's have a max of 10 memorized - not this guy
