Utterly fantastic . . . I am speechless. ![]() So right! I absolutely love this sequence. Just think about what a strip this would have made in the newspapers. How could any SANE art editor turn it down?? The art world is fundamentally irrational. By the way I found a picture of the lost final panel to this series and I'll be posting it on my FF site. Congrats Rob! Fabulous job. DAVE |

Eerie #5 cover oil painting RESTORED Frank Frazetta Owner: Rob Pistella Comment posted on 9/21/2011
Rob Pistella said:
Thanks...but listen, several guys have written me off line to discuss doing this to other paintings...this original had ONE thin coat of paint on the figures...I was looking in bright light and I could even see the figures faintly...other Frazetta pieces like the National Lampoon cover and a few others are VERY overpainted...it would be much more difficult, and risky, to attempt to remove several layers of paint. This was a calculated risk but I felt it would work since it was minimal. ![]() This really turned out superbly! A great rescue effort. Thank God at least one of these has been brought back to life. Frank wanted to add a sexy girl to the swamp instead of the guys. He just never got around to it. I loved the oil just as printed...great action, great menace, wondrous tints, and glorious textures abounding. I couldn't be happier. Good work, Rob. Art history owes you a big "thank you"! DAVE |
