Yeah, that "Deadly Hands of Criminal" story is phenomenal! That may be the best, and most poignant, Brubaker/Phillips story in their entire catalog. I also love the first special Criminal edition, "Savage Sword of Criminal", which is less affecting, but more brutal, and the imagery is outstanding, IMO. I really wanted a page from that book, but the interiors of both special editions were done entirely digitally, so I commissioned Phillips to draw a physical realization of my favorite page from that comic, and as far as I know, that's the only physical page from either story that exists: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1675347 Yes, the "Savage Sword" issue is great as well (& as you said, brutal - Teeg's prision "survival" - wow). What an awesome idea - congrats on commissioning a piece of history! |
