Why in the world would you replace Sala's wonderful typography with computer lettering? To save space? Sala's idiosyncratic lettering style is one of the things I fell in love with in his work.

Ted, I don't know if you'll see this but I feel compelled to tell you that when I discovered Metropol in my early teens, you changed the way I viewed the comic book medium forever and I thank you for it. Amazing piece. McKeever is definitely one of the most underrated artists working in comics. I've worshiped at his altar since I discovered Metropol, and he turned my adolescent view of sequential storytelling upside down. I'll be forever grateful for the strange wonderful journey he instigated for me. Cheers.

thanks for the reply. after i typed my message to you i googled norm and read about it. it's frightening, but we never know when something will go wrong w/our internal system, i imagine it was a shocking, frightening experience. he's provided a lot of people w/much enjoyment over the years and even if he never drew again i'd say he did plenty. well, thanks again.

what's the provenance of this piece? if you don't mind me asking. it's gorgeous, graham nolan's not talked about too much nowadays but he's been blowing me away since the 80's. congratulations on a great work of art.
i have to agree w/the other two posters here. graham nolan was a great bat artist. he's not much talked about today, but he ruled the batuniverse in the early to mid 90's, for me anyways. this is an amazing spread. congratulations.
not to much better, no. as i wrote, that era and that art i think deserves much more attention and appreciation. well, excuse me while i look up funny animal fansites. oh, i see dc finally released the captain carrot showcase presents. i grew up in the eighties so scott shaw's capt.carrot was my first exposure to funny animals (and i thought they were hilarious). well cheers and good further collecting.
wow, what a beautiful al fago cover. i love this guy's work. i really feel funny animal comics and art deserve more appreciation, and in my opinion fago was one of the best. i'm a bit jealous.

i've got to say i've been a comic nerd and serious comic art afficionado since the 80's and i'm just discovering you now on this site. well better late than never. this image is so imaginative and fun, and w/harley quinn about to break big on the big screen could be highly sought after. keep drawing, you've got a new fan.
it does look great on the wall. in the early 90's marvel released this as a poster. i had it up for years before it got lost in a move. lost a few great posters that way. most painful, an oversize frankenstein image by wrightson in the lab during the creation of the bride. it was huge and fantastic. i'm constantly on the lookout for it. que sirra sirra.
