Hola Oscar. I have been researching Jordi's work recently- with lots of new discoveries!- and I've found that ths strip actually appeared in Flash Espionage #41, January 1973. This page suddests that it was itended for Coplan, but for some reason was actually printed in Flash espionage, who can say why? It's always lovely to see Jordi's incredible artwork!

Thanks. Since posting these two pieces I'm slightly less confident that this definitely is Bermejo?

There was another artist on the strip- on occasions- but in this case I'm sure it is Bermejo.

Wonderful to see Luis Bermejo's artwork on this charming strip- I'm guessing originally drawn in the early 70s (These nursery comic recycled their contents a lot!).

As Paul's unofficial scanning guru (IE, I have an A3 scanner and he doesn't), when he buys masterpieces like this I get to take them home and keep them for a few days until the scanning is done, so it's a win-win situation! The only downside is I have to give them back.....

Such a great page from a great issue, towards the end of that whole Diana Prince/JLA stioryline, and one of the nicest looking. There's a lot of Adams in this issue, but I'm going to give a shout out to Dick Giordano who drew several gorgous solo issues a few years before this and really does Diana proud here too (Amazing cover as well- I wonder where that is?). Giordano must be one of the most underrated artists of the 70s.

And like Atari Force, the other comic he did with Gerry Conway the story was great. I think Conway may have just gotten tired of doing super-heroes.

I completely agree, they''re both wonderfully written. Conway's Spiderma's were emminently readable too, he really should be more highlly regarded.

As I recall the price was somewhere between £60 and £70 whch seemed like a fortune back then, and much as I loved it I did wonder if he was making a rash mistake. It shows what I know!

An absolutely stunning title page and 2/3 splash from Rival. Everywhere you look, there seems to be something even more amazing to see. The face of Mildred in the lower left panel is fabulous, but then so is the delicate depiction of the mansion and spooky tree next to it. Hard to know what to like the most.

Indeed, I've loved it for a very, very long time, so when I had the chance to buy it years ago- I pounced!

Thank you for commenting, David! Good to know. Thank you for your books and writings about the Fleetway artists. Your blog post that I quoted was interesting and enlightening. I took a look at your gallery. You have a great collection of painted Fleetway covers. Plus a Garcia-Lopez Cinder and Ashe page!

I have lots more coverrs-particularly by Penalva- but I just never seem to get round toposting them. Garcia Lopez too- I have over 20 originals, he's one of my great artistic heroes. Thanks for the kind words about my books!
