I found the Colossus page a few years after I got this one done. Fortune favors the hopeful I guess.
Many are worthy especially the DPS, it's the power of my checkbook that restrains the effort.
Funny thing is that I was looking at a page from #111 and passed on it.
You've had this a while. This series was something beyond cool.
Always a great thing to get the best page from a given book.....
You and I have very similar tastes...YES..this issue is SPECIAL. Byrne and Austin were absolutely at the top of their game here. I have the chance to buy another page years ago and passed..(so stupid).
Oh Man!! My problem is that I would get these and then want to have someone ink them...this is great.
You liked a comment...does that mean there's a chance????
Way better in person...the photo doesnt do it justice. I can't decide if I have a Byrne FF page or a Byrne Avengers page???
Serious page. I had just spent my "allowence" last auction so I had to pass. Hopefully something this cool will come up again middle of the year. Great pickup...
Also, the harsh reality of Doc Ock basically killing the guy...survival of the superior.
Wow....I got the 1/2 faces from the Portfolio so i know what you mean....Amazing
Great piece...I made the Helmet for the lead character in this piece. I was glad to see the way Alex used it.
I had this one in my hands in 2004 and didn't pull the trigger....it's awesome but way way better looking in person.
I figure I can refresh this comment every decade....If your taste change or for some reason your interested in moving this peice, I would love a shot at it.
Edward
You have the page in #131 after my page....that's awesome. You have some serious stuff.
I had this page ibn my hands at C2E2 and for some reason passed...it really is something in person.
Sorry I bought it to give it to the "muse" who inspired Alex. Finally found her and was able to send it off to her.
I feel the same way and got lucky enough to trip over a page a year or two ago. Adam's line work is just killer.
I'm sure the other piece is north of 100K. This piece is awesome and connects me to that time.
I have two in my collection (Grails that is)....my all time grail is the Splash to ASM Annual #13...a freaking amazing page by B/A.....last known in the collection of Mitch Wilson.
I'm always curious where all of this stuff disappears too, and then why it appears. I just wish a few more vintage Byrne pieces (ASM Annual #13) would surface.
No he didn't...I've seen your page before...we have similar tastes and you have a few pieces that I bid on and lost.
I've heard stories that JB complained about everyone who inked him (even Austin)...despite loving his art it's why I've never really wanted to met him (afraid he'd crush my artist hero version of him)
Yeah, I just missed out on this one....another bid might have done it....great piece.
So how did you talk him into selling??? He has MY first Spiderman splash as well. Need your secret. Awesome stuff...Edward
Great Ock page. I you ever decide to move it..please give me a shot at it. Edward
one of the best pages in the Byrne Avengers run...Your parents had a great eye.
Are you still trying to sell this? I LOVE the detail. Is it actually drawn or done some other way?
Great piece...I have two pages from the Batman Special #1..if you're ever interested in selling this, I would love to have it. As for the portfolio...I'm about 95% sure you're right.
I have two pages from this book as well. I talked with Golden about them and he could tell which pages he inked by the level of detail on the page. This was a really good book.
When I see pages like this pop up I wonder, How do mortals get a shot a buying something like this? Truly special stuff.....
Sal, Thanks for everything on this piece. It looks outstanding in my office. Once Weber photographs it for me, it will get added to my regular page.
It might just be "talking heads" but excellent none the less.
I agree with you, their work on this book may be some of their very very best. If you ever get your RS page and want to move this one please look me up. Edward
