End of year 2025 First off, if you're close to Chicago I highly recommend the Dunn Museum (Libertyville IL) and its Alex Ross Exhibit on display until mid Feb. It has all the paintings he did for the Marvel group piece. The sheer volume of the work and the absolutely amazing detail is incredible. Words cannot do it justice. Happy Holidays!!! People use the term "GRAIL" a lot. I'm not making fun of them but the TRUE use of that word is personal to each individual and should really refer to the ONE, maybe TWO pieces of art that sit alone at the top of your list. I have been fortunate enough to find a few great pieces over the years, many that would be "grails" to me except for the two that truly are my most desired pieces. My second-place piece is the splash to "Amazing Spiderman Annual #13". A fantastic John Byrne/Terry Austin page with Doc Ock and Spiderman. I had shot at it in 2006, but it ended up in the collection of Mitch Wilson. My first is another Byrne piece, the centerfold to his "Art of John Byrne" from the early 80's. I remember seeing it hanging in a comic store in Chicago, price 600$ (this is 1981 and 600$ might as well been 1 million). It's huge and awesome. TODAY, a great friend did some business with a collector in Chicago who owns that piece...probably bought it way back when...for 600$. I've got no clue who this is or where it is, but I know someone who KNOWS someone and sometimes that's all it takes. I bought the Superman piece because it reminded me of that piece (the era and colors). Even if it's very very very slight...there's a chance. Now if I can find Mitch....... April 2025...It's rare but every now and then one of "your" pages pops up...a page you've seen and missed or wanted and missed and then it just pops up and you get another shot at it. Even rarer when you win the piece at a decent price. That just happened for me. I'm a fan of Guy Gardner and like the John Byrne/Karl Kesel work on "Legends" (1986). I have a page from issue #5 with GG but the killer page is page #8. That page just auctioned on Heritage, and I was in the right spot...I have the previous page from that issue and wanted to pair it with #8. I get to own it now. Very Very cool. I read once that Albert Moy once said, "Don't get too worked up over any piece of art because there will always be something else that will come down the road."
