Yes, I have seen the magnet ones. There is also usually a thing to enclose one to show what mood you are that day. haven't figured out how to do that with my wall though.
George Perez came to a local con and I heard he did head sketches for dirt cheap ($25, although I hear he's gone up to $40). I was either going to have him draw my favorite villain or my favorite hero (Black Bolt). I looked up some of his sketches and notice most of the Thanos head shots looked the same, they look great but most of them looked like everyone elses. So I tried to come up with a concept that would ensure mine would be a little different. It has worked out very well. Most of the artists are relieved to have some direction to go with it beyond just a head sketch. It has certainly made for some unique sketches. I also once heard a story of someone asking Michael Turner to sketch Snoopy and he started and then realized he wasn't entirely sure what Snoopy looked like despite being iconic. I like the idea of asking artist to do something they haven't done before.
