my grandma gave me my first comic in 1971 (batman 232) and began to buy comics myself in 1972. like a lot of folks, i started collected art from comics i had as a kid, but of course sometimes an addict strays... while i am still looking for pages from many childhood books, i am also looking at these wonderful pages simply as art... and hence, i own a number of pages from books i never had... kirby, kubert, colan and adams were the artists i recognized and knew as a kid... but looking back at the books i owned, it is clear that i was also effected by names i hadn't remembered such as buscema (both), trimpe, tuska, severin, barry smith, romita, dillin, etc. i got into golden age comics via steranko's two volume insanity of early heroes... which is why i have a bulletman page and hope to score a nice dollman at some point... for the most part my collection ends when i stopped reading comics in the late 1970's, although kirby's work into the 1980's still kills me...
