DescriptionThis is more of a love letter to the classic era of EC Comics horror that I am so much a fan of, and that the artist shares with me.The piece is chock full of references, Easter eggs, and obvious nods to all the great issues, characters and contemporaries of Bill Gaines. Bill sits, center stage, in his trophy room, surrounded by all the images burned into the brains of his fans. See how many you can spot. Christian created a helpful guide inserted in the additional photos in case you miss any. Rendered in mixed media (pencils, inks, watercolors and more) on a heavy 16" x 20" art board, it's an epic piece. It was real labor of love for Christian, and it shows. Social/Sharing |

Not familiar with the aritst, but really dig this piece! I enjoy how artists for your theme run the gamut from legends to new talent (or at least new to me). Congrats!

Christian is an acclaimed children's book author/illustrator. His "Korgi" series of books are best sellers and my kids (and me) love them. I just added a gallery of original art from those books to my gallery as well.

As always, a neat piece that gets more enjoyable the more closely you look.....

Love the most obvious inclusion...the evil Dr. Wertham. The arch enemy of every ever lovin comic fan. Much deserved effigy of that skunk.

Very cool. The subject matter and coloring remind me of Gahan Wilson. On another note, it's good that the artists has an outlet for those demons lest they sneak into his children's book illustrations.

Lots to to pore over and the Wertham is an excellent touch. A great twist on your theme.

You missed a reference to Alfred E Neuman, to the left of the table (and scariest face on the painting!).
