DescriptionI like Casper. And I have wanted to obtain a Frank Cho piece that I liked for some time now. So when this came up for auction (that included Casper and a lady, here the Phantom Lady), this was (provided I could bid successfully for it) a no-brainer. Its subject matter (punning on the concept of a phantom) was also a plus. Here is the description from the auction house (which, unlike most descriptions often provided, was actually pretty good and on point):Acclaimed 'Good Girl' artist Frank Cho illustrated this piece featuring two of comic book's long-time "phantoms", the alluring Phantom Lady and the light-hearted Casper the Friendly Ghost. Phantom Lady, who has been published by multiple firms dating back to 1941, exists in a more realistic superhero world, while Casper exists in a more kiddy cartoon reality. Cho's inspired idea to bring them together in this piece gives us a unique team-up that will likely never be repeated. Social/Sharing |

Frank Cho's signature humor is here as he uses some smooth ink lines of varying widths to show the bulbous curves and firmness of the figures from top to bottom.

Many thanks, Marcus. Your description is so scandalous for the one but not for the other!

This is such a fantastic and FUN piece, CAB, and it’s easy to see why it was a no-brainer for your collection! Frank Cho’s mastery of the female form is on full display with his stunning rendition of Phantom Lady. Her flowing hair, expressive pose, and signature curves all rendered with that perfect balance of elegance and power. The contrast between her detailed realism and Casper’s simple, classic cartoon design makes for a delightful visual juxtaposition.
Of course, the clever wordplay on "phantom" adds an extra layer of charm, making this not just a beautifully executed piece, but a fun and inspired concept as well. The bold black background really makes both characters pop, with Cho’s impeccable linework and use of shadow enhancing the scene. A unique and wonderfully executed mashup that feels both playful and iconic. Congratulations on this aquisition, you dirty dog, you! 🤭

Many thanks, Rubén. You know, I should have asked you to write the description instead. And, yes, this is a Frank Cho piece that would not get me into domestic trouble!

Been a Phantom Lady fan since discovering those classic Golden Age issues by the great Matt Baker. And been a Casper fan even longer. A really fun piece by Frank.

Many thanks, Eric. As mentioned, the combination of artist and characters was just so interesting and it is marvellously executed (although I guess that for such an accomplished artist as Frank, drawing Casper was no problem!).

Many thanks, Mark. Casper is an innocent and friendly ghost and does tend to bring the temperature down for this particular piece of artwork!

A very fun and well executed piece. I think the Casper is fantastic and Frank might have missed his true calling.

Many thanks, Jeff. Yes, Frank's rendition of Casper is excellent and not, of course, what he is traditionally famous for!

Thanks so much once again, Toni. It's such an unusual Frank Cho piece and is, as you say, so very sweet and beautiful in its own way as well.

Love how he added the gasp. Those old kid books (Casper, Richie Rich, Hot Stuff, etc) always had the best words describing their emotions (gasp, sneer, snicker, etc).nice addition to your impressive collection CAB!

It is more than a little unusual to have both these characters together; as you say, Casper belonged to the kids books!
