Description

One of the most beautiful splashes Al did for EC. It's got it all! Plus some gorgeous Frazetta inks to boot... and some Krenkel assist on the machinery for good measure. sigh. Lot of cool EC lore and legend right here with this one, so what can I possibly add?

I'm delighted to have had the benefit of seeing this piece in person - it's how I know the first panel is an absolutely magnificent illustration that literally glows given it's energy. The whole page is just powerful - this is a stunning piece of art, Tom. What a great addition to an already stellar collection.

This is some gorgeous comic art. "The woman" appears to be 1953 era Elizabeth Taylor!

A spectacular piece of art Tom, I think it's one of the most beautiful splashes I've ever seen in my life... they don't make them like this anymore, that's for sure... I don't know how you continue to find such stellar examples... this is the best of the best...well done!

Wow. A dream EC sci-fi splash by W&F. Maybe a little Krenkel in there too?!

Yep, gotta be a little Krenkel in that machinery right

Stunning splash (yep, I see Krenkel's hand in the machinery). The whole story is a bit of a mixed bag due to Williamson balking at Krigstein being assigned as the original inker. If memory serves me right, some of Krigstein's work remains throughout the story.

Correct, except for this splash (and the last page as well) which was completely redrawn. Legend has it all being done in one night - repencilled by Al and inked by Frazetta. It's clearly just the two of them on close study of the final product. Obviously, Al re-drew the machine from Roy's original design.

Makes sense as the splash is certainly minus Krigstein. As I said, stunning example with Al and Fritz firing on all cylinders. Will look wonderful matted and framed - to complement all the other outstanding artworks you own!

Oh.My.God! Absolutely brilliant splash showcasing some of Al's finest EC work. I realize I'm in the minority, but Al's pencils speak to me far more than Frazetta's, however, the combination of Williamson pencils and Frazetta inks is the crème de la crème in my book.

Every time I revisit your gallery, I seem to find something new I love. This page, for instance. I love the overall compostion, the sharp, crisp inks, the balance between lights and darks. It's just stunning.

Three simple panels and not a drop of nudity, and I need a cigarette.  From her figure in panel one (which makes almost any Bettie Page illo look plain) to, "...the whole thing will blow to high Heaven.", ending with "The man touched her..." in panel three, I'm spent.  What page.
