Description

I think I was finally starting to loosen my inks up a little bit more here. It's tough because all the while I had three inking voices in my head--my own, Neal Adams circa 1972, and Neal Adams circa 2010. Well, Neal has earned the right to have the loudest voice, and his work and the aesthetic he wants to see is squarely situated in 2010.

When I opened my email alert from CAF and saw the title "Inking Neal Adams," I got the biggest smile on my face because I knew instantly how much this meant to you both personally and professionally. A dream come true.....enjoy the hell out of it man!

It's clear to see that with the right inker, Neal Adams's Batman still jumps right off the page! A beautiful job!

Amazing Scott. This really is a treat. Thanks so much for sharing. As it pertains to those "Inking Voices" in your head. If I was ever able to do anything in my life that's as perfect as those Neal Adams Batman books from 1972 I would be tempted to live in that moment for the rest of my life. So I respect his will to evolve, I personally would not be able to move past perfection.

Interesting Wrightsonesque cleanup of Neal's gobbledegook of Batman's neck in panel three, but both the pencils and inks flatten his chin into his neck and create a bizarre goatee by connecting that black.

Hmmm...the inked page does look like a cross between new and classic Neal Adams combined with vintage Williams.
