Description

This is the Original Art for the truly unforgettable Cover of WHAT IF...? #42 (Oct. 1992); featuring the 1st Appearance of The Six-Armed Spider-Man of Earth-91200! This issue (a tragic spin on the storyline from AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #100 - 102 by Stan Lee, Roy Thomas and Gil Kane) asks the question: "What If SPIDER-MAN Had Kept His SIX Arms?". This amazing Cover was drawn by Kevin West (pencils) and Ian Akin (inks). This cover is an "homage" to the world famous Cover of AMAZING FANTASY #15 by Jack Kirby & Steve Ditko - the 1st Appearance of SPIDER-MAN!

UPDATE: After being MIA for 22 years following the events of this issue, THE SIX-ARMED SPIDER-MAN returned to the Marvel Universe in 2014 as a major player in the epic SPIDER-MAN: EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE mini-series as well as SPIDER-VERSE and SPIDER-VERSE TEAM-UP!

How does this piece not have any comments? It's fantastic! If Spidey had six arms, he could carry around more bad guys! He could carry around the Sinister Six even! I always thought they got rid of his extra arms too quickly in the Amazing title. Maybe someday they'll revisit that phenomena and have more fun with it.
