DescriptionNOTE: THIS PIECE HAS BEEN CONSIGNED TO HERITAGE AUCTIONS, FOR SALE IN OCTOBER.Superb back-cover index to the characters and universe of Pat Mills' Nemesis The Warlock. This was the Prog before the beginning of 'Nemesis Book 4: The Gothic Empire', and was the last page from the strip that Kevin O'Neill would draw for several years, as he and Brother Mills worked on breaking into America with Marshall Law and The Green Lantern. Executed with Brother O'Neill's characteristic artlessness, I had always assumed the this was a cut-and-paste job, but no; each character is drawn directly onto the page. 'The Gothic Empire' was an odd one; it was drawn by underground legend Bryan Talbot, who would be the artist on Nemesis for several years, but the first two episodes were by Brother O'Neill; but drawn before his work on Book 1 of the Nemesis saga, as a third episode - never used - of the Comic Rock series that introduced the characters of Termight. Hence, Brother O'Neill has re-introduced Nemesis as the dapper metallic warlock-about-town of that earlier style, rather than the grody shapeshifter of Book 3, and the ABC Warriors from the 1970s, who had had designed with Mick McMahon, and would be re-introduced - spoiler alert - by Brother Talbot in the Gothic Empire. ...and knowing Brother O'Neill's comic nerdery, who's to say that this 1953 Frank Hampson Dan Dare Who's Who wasn't the inspiration?! Credo! Pen and ink on thick paper 17.5" X 14.25" Letters: Brother Frame Social/Sharing |

It's a Who's Who and Official Handbook entries with the ideal images and official file card on each character presented. The art is so detailed and confident to create the best images.

Head shot central. No need to give Brother Kevin a beating on the day he did this.

What an excellent christmas gift. Truly stunning. So cool to see it like this in Black and White, other wise I would have guessed it was an editorial cut-and-paste job too.

Credo indeed! The detail on Torquemada's head is superb, as only O'Neill could do. It is rotting away in front of our eyes! Fabulous piece of 2000AD history.
