DescriptionEver since I saw this issue on the comic store racks, I loved the cover. Everything about the drawing is just remarkable to me -- the layout and ink-black background, use of negative/positive space, the old-west motif, Edward Grey with his sidearm, the crucifix, mystical symbols, and even (especially) the 3 guys standing in the corner. Told myself if I ever had the chance to purchase, I would have to go for it.I didn't get Comic Con tickets this year and had resigned myself to sitting on the sidelines. Then Wednesday late afternoon, I get a call from a friend saying she had an extra ticket to Preview Night. We arrived and made a beeline for Mike's table. And what should be on offer, but this very piece. Of course, in my lack of preparation, I didn't have nearly enough cash on hand to purchase the art. But then I see Christine scanning a credit card on her iPhone. Very, very happy...! Social/Sharing |

I was considering buying this when you swooped in and grabbed it-- I almost pulled rank on you, but you seemed so happy I couldn't do it.

Very nice of you to allow me to make the grab -- you did mention that you'd been looking at this one. Should have introduced yourself! I'm a fan of your work and might have deferred... er, well... maybe we could have flipped a coin or something? Thanks again

Great snag Brent... and an even better story! Glad you got your grail. Always awesome when that happens.

These Witchfinder covers are nice. I've said it too many times to count, but I'll say it again... it's the non-HB stuff from the HB-era that shows Mike's true genius
