Description

Before Marvel Team Up and before Marvel Two in One, there was the original Strange Tales, featuring the Human Torch and the ever-lovin', blue eyed Thing doing battle against assorted villains every issue. It occurred to me that my celebration of all things Grimm was lacking sufficient attention to this 'grandaddy' of Thing team up books.

Inker Bob Almond applied the finishing touches to this drawing (penciled by the brilliant Val Semeiks). Everything was arranged directly with the respective artists via email. I have many commissions from these artists and the quality of their work is a big reason why that is.

For this drawing, I asked Val for his take on Strange Tales # 128, a Thing and Human Torch team up against Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch that was originally drawn by Dick Ayers and "Frankie Ray".

As is custom when I post new art from this pairing of artists, I must thank fellow collector Damon Owens once again for recommending both Val and Bob to me in the first place.

Very sweet! I've also been taking up a lot of Bob Almond's time, and seeing these pieces it's obvious why. Great work by both parties! And you're right, Damon is responsible for a lot of mine too.

After so many years as half of "Sal (Velluto) & Bob," it looks as though Mr. Almond has found another perfect matchup -- Val & Bob. Another awe-inspiring, ever-lovin', blue-eyed stunner!

Not only am I loving the art, this piece takes me way back. Outstanding work by Val and Bob, and of course, nobody picks the great Ben Grimm moments like the Marvel Two-in-One 76 Guy.
