DescriptionCommissioned pieceOil on paste board 23 1/2" X 31 1/2'" Paolo Girardi is an Italian artist known for his very chaotic and visceral cover art for metal bands. He is also a master at painting landscapes. I discovered his art on Facebook a few weeks ago and couldn't believe I had never seen it before. I contacted him about my commission idea and he was hesitant at first, because he did not want to paint a "pop" icon like Batman. I sent him numerous pictures about the subject and then he got a vision on what he could do with the character and Arkham Asylum and this is what is came up with. I think he nailed what I thought he could do and also kept everything in his own style and color palate. He was also a pleasure to work with and a truly humble guy. Social/Sharing |

It's going to sound really strange, but you know what I really love in this? That moonlight. He nailed that so well. It really is the small details. Great commission, and keen that it was his first outside his normal sphere. I love genre mashups, and when artists push outside their comfort zones.

The sky seems to be a lot of peoples favorite part on Facebook. This also shows certain artists can work outside their confort zone, if they find the right vision.
