Killer piece!  Some say he's the next big thing and he'll inspire more illustrative fantasy painters to crossover into comics!

Marcus-

I think that is very true. I met with Dan last night and he has so many covers and things to do. He is very grounded in his work and it takes all of his focus. He has his career mapped out.

These covers Fred's doing for the Toxic Avenger are great, and this one is a killer example. In the comic world Harper is underrated as he spent most years between his early Marvel stuff wisely doing gallery shows across the USA

I agree with you about Fred being underrated. The new covers are really great.

Thanks!

These flying cats are always causing trouble and shutting down the grid.

Marcus-

I have had to de-energize parts of circuits a few times in my career due to cats up on the crossarms and poles. It is a bad public image, if we let them get electrocuted.

Jeff's work looks staggeringly good from just a scan but in person truly amazing. To think it's done in charcoal and graphite adds a whole new dimension to.

I agree! They look digitally done from a scan, but in person all the textures and layers show. He is the best with this technique.

Six comments and zero likes? That doesn't add up. Big Excalibur fan here. Did you know that Hilary Joyalle was the actress that played the Lady of the Lake in the 1981 movie Excalibur? She's still alive and owns a restaurant down in Ft. Lauderdale.

I had no idea of the actress that played the Lady of the Lake, but cool information to have. One of my wifes faves.

Always cool to see how artists from Eastern cultures would interpret the premise that is so Western.  It would surely incorporate and reflect their own environment and their outlook of the world.

I love to see how they see things and do their own thing. That is why I like commissions from other parts of the world, especially when they don't know much about the character.

Haunting!  I like the concept of a sheep as the devil.  I've imagined Lucifer or demons as ox-eyed sheep/goats and used that in drawings before.  Something sinister to me about having eyes on the side of the head.  Love that dark forest, but I'm puzzled by the inky hands

I forgot to get back to you about those inky hands. The artist just told me something he did that is open for interpretation. They can be your own narrative.

Monster High is very popular whenever there are Mattel exclusives at comic con.  This very slick painting with the airbrush polish enhances everything that made the dolls so unique using the cute goth look.  The big eyeballs are glamoring the audience.

Thanks Marcus! I always liked her work, so couldn't pass this one up. She has always focused on the use of the larger eye.

Jorge Mascarenhas taps into the theatrical style of bone-chilling atmopshere of Robert Eggers movies.  The Roanoke folklore of haunted horror comes to mind with a color palette that wickedly shrouds and disguises the presence of evil.

You nailed it! His color pallete works great with his horror work. Most of his new stuff is digital hybrid, but still same use of colors.
