Description

"It's An Appointment." Did you know that some comic strip artists titled each of their dailies? I didn't, until I bought my very first daily -- this Gasoline Alley daily. I bought it about ten years ago from a Russ Cochran auction. It started me on a quest for more early Gasoline Alley's and more vintage comic strip art. Of course, if you know me, you know that the quest is very slow moving. Must be something in the Hawaiian water. "Polynesian Paralysis." Nonetheless, I have acquired one more daily every couple of years or so. Funny thing about is that the first five that I bought are all from 1938. How that happened I don't know. Maybe some collector let loose a batch of 1938 and I didn't hear about it until I had to buy them second or third hand. The themes of innocence and of teen age love are prevalent in 1938 strips. These strips have become my "Rosebud." I would love to find more. Please email me if you have any for sale.

Richard, beautiful and somehow remembering daily. Thank you very much for posting these beauties, after looking at your GA collection i became an addict of King's art and i will always be thankful to you for this. Ciao !
