Martines, Richard

Greetings to all. I was about five years old when I started reading comics in 1960. My early favorites were the great DC Silver Age heroes, especially the Superman family, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, and the Legion. At about eight or nine I finally got onto the Marvel Age. The 1960s were fun years of comic book reading. Unlike most, I never did go through a period of giving up comics, and somehow I survived the years reading comic books and still ending up to be a "somewhat" well adjusted, well rounded fellow. I admit to being an original art addict. Have been ever since the first two pages that I bought in 1981. I live a moderate middle income lifestyle and collect on a modest level. But guess what fellow fiends -- if you collect with a modest approach for twenty years, you end up with a pretty good collection. The long run is the way to go. My thanks go to the dealers who were there in the early 1980s. Their guidance started me off on the right approach to collecting original art. Mitch Itkowitz, Tom Horvitz, Wally Harrington, Sandy Blatt, and Alan Speigal.
