DescriptionMontana started the syndicated Archie strip in 1946 and never looked back. There is some sort of debris or mold/rust on the paper. I'll have to get this to someone who knows how to deal with this to make sure this piece survives for many more years.Check out that third panel in details...Ronnie....sigh...Betty never had a chance. Update April 2021. The piece came back from conservation/restoration today. New image posted as well as a before and after in the additional images. The art is not as white as the scan shows, there is still a bit of a PATINA (caps for Ruben's benefit). Social/Sharing |

Wow! This is fantastic, Jeff! Robert did another terrific job for you. And what a daily strip! Wonderful early Montana. Well done!

Really perfect example of the triangle at the heart of the strip. It looks great with the restoration

I don't know who this other "Ruben" is who asked you to emphasize the word patina in all-caps, but even a half-wit knows that patina is an effect created by a cause, that cause being oxidation on METAL such as bronze or copper over a long period of time, NOT paper. You can also create patina artificially with different acids, which is how new furniture is aged to appear antique.
Any time you're unsure about correct usage of terminology, feel free to ask me. Unlike this other "Ruben" you speak of, who sounds to me like wolf in sheeps's clothing, I will lead you to the promised land, rather than astray. The late, great, Jiménez Jiménez will be turning over in his grave to see you led astray this way, Jeff. But I'm happy I'm still here to put you back on the path of wisdom, rather than the path of ignorance, which ultimately leads you to hell. Stick with me, kid, I'll teach you a few things! 😘 🥰 😄
