Description

Ellen Barbara Segner is best know as the artist on the "Dick and Jane" school readers. Additionally, she seemed to enjoy success in advertising, magazine illustrations, and pin ups. This painting appeals to me because I am a skier, I love the nostalgic era this invokes, and because I appreciate that the painting, while somewhat pin-up-style, also represents the female as adventurous, independent, and athletic. Are there any Mutoscope card experts out there? Was this image used on a Mutoscope card? Something in my memory makes a connection, but I don't know for sure.
