DescriptionPage 1 from issue 3 of the current volume of Criminal (this is the second part of what became "Bad Weekend"). I'm a huge fan of Sean's & Ed Brubaker's storytelling, their work together always delivers. Love the connections between crime, comics, artists and comic art in this storyline!Social/Sharing |

Love the recurring comics-within-comics theme in these creators' Criminal books!

Yes! I especially loved the "Deadly Hands of Criminal" story from the 10th anniversary issue.

Yeah, that "Deadly Hands of Criminal" story is phenomenal! That may be the best, and most poignant, Brubaker/Phillips story in their entire catalog. I also love the first special Criminal edition, "Savage Sword of Criminal", which is less affecting, but more brutal, and the imagery is outstanding, IMO. I really wanted a page from that book, but the interiors of both special editions were done entirely digitally, so I commissioned Phillips to draw a physical realization of my favorite page from that comic, and as far as I know, that's the only physical page from either story that exists:

Yes, the "Savage Sword" issue is great as well (& as you said, brutal - Teeg's prision "survival" - wow). What an awesome idea - congrats on commissioning a piece of history!
