DescriptionKeeping the FF villain posts going with this creepy-crawly commission of insectoid baddie Annihilus by my man Eranga! Always loved this character’s design, and E does it legit justice with his take here!Love the Kirby-ness. That triumphant pose – you can just picture him narrating some classic ‘60s villain dialogue, in maybe a last page title splash. Floating on a Negative Zone asteroid, about to give the FF the business in the next issue. And you gotta have some background Krackle! Subtle grey tones work to nice effect, especially with the multiple textures – see the wings vs the armor. Definitely part of what I love about the design, and I think Eranga himself described it best in his IG post: “I love the different elements of his costume over the years but the mixing of armored exo-skeleton and the organic wings gives him a really unique feel. It’s almost like drawing a vampire, robot, and dragon all in a single package. A super-fun piece for me.” I think we can see he had fun, his first time ever drawing the character. And speaking of “vampire”, is that kind of a bat framing Annihilus in that background Krackle?! :) Social/Sharing |

E does good work! Those shoulder spikes are not easy.

Remember in the day they’d drawn
Marker sketches and used blue lines
Didn't have a care in the world
Just draw me with eBay standin' by
But "happily every flipper" fails
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
Eranga dwells on small details
The quality is now high
But I know a place Negative Zone
That's still untouched by men
We could sit and watch the hard chrome thighs
And the rocks that wave in villains
You can pick your jaw back off the ground
And let Eranga bring the Kirby
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the age of Annihilus

Love this one, top to bottom, man. "We could sit and watch the hard chrome thighs" - ha!
And what's also good...the meaning of Annihilus...quite different from the meaning of the word it's subbing for in the last lyric :)
Thanks, Marcus, and all, for the comments!

A fabulous interpretation of Marvel's classic, longstanding villain. It's safe to say Eranga annihilated this one!

Eranga keeps getting better. Look at this! I really think he'll be drawing published comics in the next year or so.

I have an Annihilus example myself. I like this one better due to the pose. Congrats on this turning out so well!!!

That ... is awesome. Vampire, robot and dragon indeed. What a fantastic artistic interpretation of one of the most interesting of all the FF foes!

You can't get a much better villain name than Annihilus, the Living Death That Walks! The artwork is fantastic as well!

Love the cool villain pose. I can hear Annihilus now swearing vengeance against the FF. Another Eranga triumph!

Exactly! You can just picture a dialogue bubble, to the right - "Vengance shall be MINE!!" And of course the letter "mine" is lettered big and bold. And a "Next Month" caption at the bottom right :) Thanks, Michael!

Annihilus looks powerful (as he has to be). Despite it's his first time, Eranga has captured the character at his finest. Very nice addition to your gallery. Congrats

Awesome pose. Really cool piece and Dio-Holy Diver complements this piece in a most symbiotic way.

The Kirby-ness Eranga piece is spot on. It's got the right feel especially with his stylistic pose and BG. Loving Eranga's work. I need to get on his list for a Kwannon/Psylocke combo.

YESSSSSSSSS! Oh, man, does Eranga do himself proud here - look at all that Krackle! And the marker shading is beautifully done, too, adding a lovely richness to the piece. Annihilus has always been a favorite character design of mine as well - it's a "kitchen sink" approach that absolutely lands - and each of the elements (dragon, robot, killer insect) are given their due by E here... Normally seeing this beast means you'r3 in the Negative Zone, but I look at it and definitely feel more in the "positive zone". :) Excellent choice of commission, KG! Congrats, sir!

"Kitchen sink" that lands is a good way to put it - easier said than done! "Positive zone"...I I like that, Jason :) Thanks, man!
