Description

This is Page 9 of "The Yellow Peri Peril" from the November 1982 issue of The New Adventures of Superboy, the second part of the first Yellow Peri story.

Gazook, the living teddy bear shows they weren't afraid to have blatantly cartoonish images in otherwise realistic early 1980's comic books. Peri is a cute as a button and notably has a distinctive face. I've written previously about how must comic artists, including the one here, Kurt Schaffenberger gave their attractive women interchangeable faces. That's absolutely not true here. I have a Schaffenberger page featuring the adult Peri but there she is indistinguishable from his Lois, Lana, etc. except for the hair and costume.

Peri was another victim of a sadistic has-women-issues comic writer when she had her legs hacked off (or otherwise removed) in a later appearance. Fortunately, they were restored, apparently without explanation, in a later appearance.
