Description

A nice, classic manga image. I found this in a comic shop in the Jimbocho book sellers district in Tokyo last week. At the time, I had asked the store clerk to write down the name of the Manga and the artist for me in Romanji (English characters) but promptly misplaced it so I don't recall what was written. Timothy Finney was of great assistance in figuring this out for me. The artist Mitsuo HIgashiura and this was published in 1966. The title was "Kazenoko Takamaru." and it was published in a children's magazine called "Kodomo no Higashi" ("Children's Light"). The publishing date would appear to be Showa 41 (1966) March 25th. Kozenoko means Child of the Wind.

That is a classic 60's manga style, when riffing off Tezuka was practically demanded. That is a really fine pick up.

I've never been a fan of Manga, but I really like this piece due to its clean, animated line. Congrats, the land of the rising sun has been good to you.
