Description

Here is a fun piece. It was won by a friend in Italy in a lottery for fans from a European publisher. We did a trade deal that made us both happy. Asano, Urasawa and Ito are my three favorite active mangaka in the world (in that order). I had the chance to meet Urasawa and get a small dedication from him at Angouleme a few years ago. The guy is a rock-star and travels with an entourage including several video cameras and sound operators. I've never seen anything like it. None of his art will ever be available so the rare Shikishi like this one is the closest anyone will get to an original. I am always a bit leery of unpublished art but this one comes with rock solid provenance. Although it is toss up for me between Monster and 20th Century Boys as to which is my favorite series, I really like the new Asadora one he is working on and it might yet win out as my favorite. The sketch is the main character of that manga.

I've only read Master Keaton and one volume of Pineapple Army, but I loved those. This is a really great drawing from a master artist.

Urasawa is one of my all-time favorite manga artists (in my top 3 he would be together with Toriyama and Inoue), I'm loving Asadora so far!

Congrats for such a special and rare piece!
