Description

Simon Hanselmann is a Tasmanian comic creator who has become a bit of a sensation in recent years winning awards, accolades and praise from just about everyone. Although his art and humor may not be universally appreciated, there is a lot more to his work. It is humanistic and we piece together characters dealing with relationships, sexuality, abuse, addiction, mental health issues, social issues and life in a way that is painfully honest and at times stripped bare of all pretext. The characters are superficially derivative of a popular children's cartoon, Meg, Mog and Owl but reinvented in this strip that started as a web comic.

I have added a few detailed scans in additional images so you can see the art better. The overall size of the page is about the same as an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper but on art board.

Oh, God indeed! And I'll bet this isn't one of the most "unpleasant" pages in the book :) Also, I've rarely seen a more dissolute cat :)

It's easy to dismiss Simon's work as vulgar, but when you really dive in there's a lot there. His lines are so precise and his panels are often so much more detailed than you would expect. While divisive, his work will definitely go down in comics history.
