Description2023 kicks off like 2022 did, with a commission posting from artist friend Eranga Devasurendra! (last year’s piece here )2022 was a Hulk request (details left up to Eranga) and I enjoyed the commission process so much I gave him complete artist choice for the commission this time around. He didn’t stray from the Hulk theme (I would have been OK with that if so) and did this amazing Abomination commission, inspired from the Peter David and Dale Keown Hulk story that found Abomination lurking in the sewers. Directly from Eranga “…I didn’t want to stray too far from the Hulk for you. I LOVED the storyline with the Abomination when he was mangled and living in the sewers. I really wanted to play with a piece where geometry and perspective come into play. And lighting. So the sewer tunnel curving away and Abomination lurking played well. Some poor sewer worker turns a corner with his flashlight and BAM…” and BAM indeed with this gorgeous looking piece! NOTE: additional image is from the package the art arrived in. I had no doubt what this package was when I picked it up. Good stuff! Thanks Eranga for another perfect commission experience. I HIGHLY recommend a commission from Eranga for yourself. Happy New Year! Social/Sharing |

For sure - Eranga mastered the curved brick effect!

This is great! Has an almost horror vibe and I like it. A true original from Eranga. Excellent Hulk themed start to the year Dave!

Man! If this had been a drawing of just the tunnel, you STILL would have gotten your money's worth. Incredible work by ED.

What a great story choice, that was a personal favorite of mine, too. It was a great character arc, that added some nice depth to the Abomination. And, agreed with James, that tunnel effect is so well-done. And all the wash and shading! The choice to black out foreground tunnel gives this real depth. Great commission, as he does.

Amazingly detailed piece based on a story that anyone who was reading Hulk in the early 1990s instantly loved. E does it again!

Sewers are dark & terrifying enough, but imagine having THAT coming at you from around the bend. Beautiful piece! And yeah those curved bricks are hypnotizing for sure.

Sweet! E to the D again doin' his thang! Nice central figure but love that bending, swirling tunnel. And when you step back, it kinda looks like scales! Congrats!

Sewer’s down 'n' dirty, feeling kinda green
I've been hoping for Eranga’s brick themes
This time I had a good time, ain't got time to wait
He’s gonna stick around ‘cause he captivates
Fill my eyes with that tunnel vision
No disguise for Abomination
Ooh, when it gets through to me, it's always new doozy
Abomination gets the best of me

Wow! I LOVE this commission! Phenomenal art by Eranga Devasurendra! I love how the sewer seems to spin hypnotically around the Abomination--It makes it seem like he's trapped down there! Kudos to you and Mr. Devasurendra! for this awesome piece!
