DescriptionI remember reading a critic's review in previews on Cavewoman #2, first series back in '94(?) . It got my attention, but where could I locate the first issue? Well, Budd just happen to be appearing at the greenboro toy show and I knew I just had to go. Budd had STACKS upon STACKS of original art for sale on his table. Man, I think I looked over everything a few dozen times. What was really interesting wasn't just the published art, but the drawings on the back of the pages themselves! Oh man, just the greatest little sketches or prelims of all kinds of stuff. Budd's best work has always been on the back of pages. My cousin bought a sweet page with a Lon Chaney jr tranformation along with Bela's dracula and even Boris' frankenstein from "Budd's Basement", a short story out of caliber presents. I decided to purchase an ice cream sketch of Meriem and this classic, Page 4 of the original series! At the time purchase, Budd even said, "You know, you are getting a somewhat "historical" page there! It's the very first time Cavewoman fully appears; there are just glimpses in the other page before this one." So there you have it, the very first full appearance of Meriem. We are talking "GRAIL" material here! Not too shabby!Social/Sharing |

...Sigh... yet another grail! I have always loved the 1st panel, you can tell Budd had this big reveal in mind when he drew the preceding pages. It would have also made for a great full page splash.
This one's reserved for me, if you decide to let it go, right??! :D

You know, it is reserved for ya, but I hope that day will never come. I think it'll look great in my red wagon; )
