I never get lucky with art. Not really. Most of the time it feels like I’m just missing the deal, seeing it after the fact, or discovering an artist right as they blow up and everything gets out of reach.

But this time? I got lucky.

Two Loish pencil sketches. Not one — two. Right place, right keyword, right time. Still can’t quite believe it. And yes, Loish herself confirmed they’re legit, which made this all the sweeter.

I’ve always admired her work — the softness, the structure, the way her characters seem to feel real without needing storylines or capes. These two pieces say everything with posture, eyes, and silence.

They feel like they belong together.

Study in Stare has that bold, unblinking energy — direct, grounded, and maybe a little stubborn.

Study in Stillness is her quieter echo — reflective, distant, and beautifully composed.

They’re framed side by side in my collection, and every time I see them, I’m reminded that sometimes… you actually catch the moment instead of chasing it.
