DescriptionFirst ever appearance, panel or otherwise, of Mosaic! A newer Inhuman character introduced in 2016, created by Geoffrey Thorne (writer) and Khary Randolph (designer). Though the character hasn’t taken off in the broader Marvel universe, I’m still stoked to own this piece, as I dig the character. Would be cool to see him get more play, but if not, it’s all good. I’m happy to add this piece along with the splash I have (here if you wanna check it out: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1623400) from the 8 issue series by Thorne/Randolph. This one’s by Carlos Pacheco with Andy Owens inks. And oh yes! Also my first Pacheco piece.I actually bought the Owens blue line ink page some time back. Rare occurrence – I almost never buy blue line pages without also buying the original pencils, assuming they exist on a separate board. But I like the character, was his first appearance, and wasn’t too pricey. And maybe I could get the pencils at some point. And I did! See in additional images. Thanks, fellow CAFer, David Perez! Definitely happy to marry the 2 up. In this page another Inhuman is doing a kind of roll call. Here he notes Mosaic as an “infiltrator”, as he can possess the bodies of others, accessing their memories, powers, etc. When he became an Inhuman he lost his physical body, so he’s sorta like Deadman that way. He's invisible, too, but does learn later how to become visible when he wants, though unstable. This is one of those times - gotta love the freaking out dude's expression :) Nice way for me to check Pacheco off the collector list and here’s hoping to seeing Mosaic in more comics! Also thought I’d link a pretty cool 3 minute/30 second video with designer Khary Randolph sketching Mosaic and giving some tidbits on his creation – check it out: https://youtu.be/-30TtifEuqs Social/Sharing |

Not familiar with Mosaic, but this is a well executed sequence. And Mosaic certainly looks interesting and threatening. Congrats.

Sweet! A other first appearance piece. Man I envy those of such surgical scope that can snipe these beauties to their arsenal. This isnt a character I know well but I recall his series briefly and nearly bought them for the raw energy of the covers alone. Congrats on your wicked historical sxore!

Great historic page...especially of a character that speaks to you. Congrats.

Nothing like a terrifying and sweet first app. to break daily montony in the city! The textures to Mosaic are (appropriately) crazy cool.

Pacheco is an absolute master at storytelling, and Owens' inks look great on his pencils. I love that vertical establishing shot, followed by all of the horizontal panels where every camera angle for the interior of the car is different. I also like the exterior short of the car before the action starts. And of course I really dig how that last panel invades the first panel's border just as Mosaic invades the backseat.

Nice observations, Travis. I don't follow Pacheco per se, but realize that I have read and enjoyed a LOT of the books he's drawn. The pin up-y stuff is great, but I'm thinking you're right - storytelling's the forte. This is indeed a good example, as you note - no bias from my end :) Thanks, man, and all, for the comments!

I really like Mosaic's design, as it presents lots of opportunities for artists to be creative with it and crat special effects with it, particularly when set against solid black backdrops. Neat to own his first appearance too!

That is a super cool first appearance! Like Ruben said, lots of opportunities for different artists to add their creative touches. Are those pieces of his body flying off him? And congrats on marrying the original pencils with the inked page!

Agree with both of you guys and I've seen some of it, particularly in the Thorne/Randolph series! Yup, those are pieces of him. Designer Randolph refers to them as "Mosaic flakes" :) Check out the video linked at the bottom of the description! Thanks, man!

Great page and first appearance of Mosaic, fun character that didn't get too much life yet.

No, that's not a creepy image at all, the way it looks like he's crawling out of the guy's mouth. :) Backseat guy is totally freaked out, but it's New York, you cringe, don't make eye contact, and then you get out of the cab. Just another day. Very cool 1st appearance page. I'm not aware of the character, but I love the Inhumans, so I'm gonna check it out. Thanks for linking the process video, too. Very cool. Congrats!

Wow! What an entrance! Love the look and feel of this new character even though I've never seen him before! Marvel needs to do more with this guy!

Great story telling going on here. I don't know who Mosaic is and I did not read this comic, not can I see the words. But I know dude in the car has made this character mad as all get out and he's about to hear about it and more. Great page - hope this first appearance black suit character nets you 3.3m before it is said and done. Congrats KG - thanks for sharing!

Birth pages are always something to celebrate! This one tells a great story even without looking at the word balloons!

Now THAT'S how you make an entrance. Love the everyday "ho-hum" of the first four panels that is blown up from within (literally) with panel five. When I look at this page I actually get an audio sting in my head; that sound in The Matrix, when Agent Smith(s) pop out of folks. Incredibly dramatic execution here that absolutely spotlights Pacheco's storytelling skills; setting you up and taking you out (or taking someone out of you, more accurately) in very striking fashion. Great score, K! Congrats!

"Ho-hum" is right. Minding his own business, whistling, then "KZZT!" Or some sound, lol, if there actually is one! I could totally see (or hear, rather), it after I read your comment, and "KZZT!" is what popped in my head :) Thanks, man!

Hey, man! Thanks for the add, and thanks again for allowing me to get the pencils. They DID need to be married up, didn't they?! :) Take care!
