Description
2nd of 2 Spidey related posts today and my first published piece by Khary Randolph! I got a nice Blade commission (check it out here if so inclined: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1486366) but have been thinking about that right published example…and I think I got it!

This page is from the series Mosaic, which follows the solo story of new Inhuman Morris Sackett aka Mosaic. As a result of Terrigenesis he loses physical form but is able to enter the bodies of others, controlling them, kinda like Deadman. I really liked the character’s design and his power set really lent to some neat visuals in the book. In this moment he possesses Spider-Man – he’s looking for a bit of thrill (Spidey swingin’!) and curious to know what’s in the head of one of the most known heroes out there.

I don’t buy pencil only non-rendered art very much, but I loved how Khary captured the moment here, from the figure work to the poses and expressions. Khary’s got an angular kind of style that works well for these more kinetic moments. Loved his rendition here of that crawling-on-the-wall Spidey pose, particularly the attention to detail on the hands and fingers. I also like the head turn and the squinting eye lenses, letting you know that something’s amiss :) Lastly, the mirror image technique showing that Mosaic’s in control works to great effect. And you can tell by Mosaic’s smile he’s pretty happy with himself!

Included the published image, too, as it also came out great. Thanks, Khary and rep Paolo!

I'm also not a big fan of pencils only art unless it's tight, but Spidey looks prett damned cool here!

Yeah that's a really cool piece.  It has a delightful sneakiness and creepiness to it, which you don't get a lot of with the regular, more light-hearted Spidey stuff.

After this possession Mosiac went after Marv Albert next. "Yes, and the foul!"

As soon as I read your comment the "NBA on NBC" jingle from the '90s popped into my head :) And thanks for the reminder, as I forgot to note when posting the piece, the reason he says "Nothing but net, baby.  Nothing but net" is because he was a pro baskerball player prior to Terrigenesis.  So, another thing I liked about the piece as that line is unique to the character and his origin.  Thanks, John, and all for the comments!

Thanks, R., much appreciated, as you also have a sweet piece by Khary which just happens to feature my 2 favorite hero characters in Spidey and Black Panther!  An "amazing" Randolph example ;)  Thanks, again!
