DescriptionFollowing up my Wieringo Doom-centric post with another Doom goodie, this one by Jim Cheung! From Marvel Two-In-One, featuring an alternate universe Doom who’s essentially become that universe’s Galactus. Prime universe Reed, Doom, Ben, and Johnny team up to stop him. Fantastical stuff :)This page really just had a lot packed into it for a Doom and Cheung fan. Great top panel Doom head shot (SO clearly Cheung) followed by a splashy suited and sized up Ben vs Galactudoom. Lotsa Krackle throughout – Krackle doesn’t feel more fitting anywhere than in an FF story. And some sweet inks by Walden Wong, for example, accentuating that Cheung hatch-y goodness. Also check out the additional image I included – HasLab created a Doctor Doom head for a Legends Galactus figure :) Social/Sharing |

Artwork skills, what Cheung is showing
And he's using control
'Cause the pages he's supplying
He's illustrating
The inker shapes up, for Galactus fans
Walden's art is set on Doom (and my heart is set on Doom)
You better shape up, for all the artwork fans
To my art I must be true (The Thing's left, nothing left for me to Doom)
Two-In-One that I want (your Two-In-One I want)
Doom-Doom-Doom, honey
The one that I want (your Two-In-One I want)
Doom-Doom-Doom, honey
The one that I want (your Two-In-One I want)
Doom-Doom-Doom, the one I need (one I need)
Oh, yes 4 Reed (yes 4 Reed)

Cosmically powered Doom makes me think of Secret Wars Doom. Fabulous piece with a Kirby Krackle punch.

Oh how I love the super clean lines of Jim Cheung, and what beautiful inks!! The idea of Doctor Doom as Galactus is truly legend .... wait for it .... wait a little more ..... oh just a tiiiiiny bit longer .... DARY! I was actually hoping this page was 'for sale' as well, lol. And what a great HasLab action figure! Congrats, K!

MTIO it's so amazing for many reasons. For sure one is the character combos. This one is a perfect example of it. Doom in first panel looks incredible. Very nice!!

Interesting because Walden Wong almost reins this in a little. Cheung inking himself can be so fussy but this feels more comic booky and I like it!

That's interesting, Chris. I often dig Cheung's uber detailed inks when on himself, but I totally see what you're saying on this one. Being less "busy" adds to the overall Kirby-ness, aka, comic bookiness :) Lil' Ben included, too. Wait, actually BIG Ben! Wait, ain't that a clock?! Anyway - got some THING here! Thanks for the add, man!

Doctor Galactus? Nah, sounds too much like my dentist. Galactus Doom? Ehhh, it feels like an EDM band. Galactic Doom. Let's switch it up a little bit. I cut my teeth on What If, so alternate storylines are definitely my jam. That layout is so good, and Mr Wong really killed those inks. Great page, Kahlil! Cosmic

Fantastic! Any day one gets to add another Cheung to the gallery is officially a good day, but adding one like this bumps it up another notch or two! Beautiful takes on all the characters in all the panels, but good heavens - that hatch work around Doom in panel 3 is absolutely insane. It looks positively sensational in any of the CAF sizes: the thumbnail, its designated page, the larger detailed "blow up" (and now here on the "leave a comment" page)... A gorgeous example of Ben checking his cosmic watch and seeing that it is, in fact, always "Clobberin' Time" -somewhere-... Congrats, K! Another beauty!

Yeah, the hatch work took this one over the top for me, man. And that third panel in general - there's just so much going on there both in terms of the story AND the art techniques! Glad you dig it, man - thanks!
