DescriptionThis is a page that is packed with Marvel goodness! Sal Buscema (greatest Hulk artist) and Joe Sinnott (greatest inker) were an amazing team as each complimented the other's skills perfectly. Just look at those gorgeous inks on Ironclad - Joe knew how to make him look so good. Hulk bounding through the desert leaving craters in his wake which allows Ironclad to emerge - classic stuff here! So happy to have my first U-FOES page!Social/Sharing |

Great end page! And pretty much anything with Sinnott inks is an automatic winner. Enter the U-Foes! I love it!

Agreed! Joe Sinnott had the artist's Midas touch and everything thing he touched had the same golden standard of excellence! His level of excellence, consistency, and longevity was unparralled. He is the King of inks in my book, right up there with the King of pencils, Jack Kirby. Thanks my friend

This is a great page to show that the villains aren't done. Sal and Joe give it their all like a post credit scene! It sets up the U-Foes return years later in Issue #304.

Ironclad's comin'! Love these last page cliffhangers. Some of the best pages, with that lettering at the bottom, and can be good value! Gotta love a bounding Hulk, and I see what you're saying about them Mean Joe inks! Congrats!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. As an inker, Joe Sinnott is in a league of his own. And of course Sal always knocked it out of the park with his Hulk issues. Love that last panel, and I'm such a huge fan of these final page cliffhangers. You just can't wait to read the next issue!

Nice! I love the U-Foes and wish they were used more often! They're basically the FF if they were evil.

Thanks for all the comments! @ Eric, KG, PP (and anyone else) - I also loved the opening and ending Marvel pages from this era. They always set the scene for the issue or put you on a cliffhanger for the next issue so well. I love finding these pages as well!

There is a convincing case to be argued that Joe Sinnott is the best inker to ever work in comics. That Sal Buscema is not bad either! Lol. What a page.

I would make that case and argue that as well. Thanks!

It's an ironclad lock that you got an amazing page. Sal, Joe and U-foes is a great combo, and you know I love this storyline. Another great one, Dave. Big congrats!

Lovely page! I agree, the bounding Hulk panels are fantastic. Hulk disapparing into the distance as the reader's attention is drawn to the foreground action is a very cinematic trick that Sal seemed to use a lot in the late '80s and early '90s - to great effect. Great find!

Fantastic page! Love Sal's layout here--It has a real cinematic quality. And Joe's inks really make Sal's work shine! Fabulous pick-up!

Pure Marvel magic! Sal & Joe were one of the most perfect art teams in Hulk history. Love the storytelling on this page, in all it's cornball glory!
Also - so cool to view this beauty just a day after receiving my Hulk v U-Foes pages from your good self, Dave! That rematch didn't end well for poor old Ironclad...
