Description15th new artist add in 2022 here with Black Panther full bleed goodness by Lan Medina – edge to edge of the whole 11x17 board!Saw this posted for sale and inquired pretty quick. Great shot of T’Challa, and the lion character and the background that looked like bones intrigued me. I asked Lan’s dealer at ComiConArt.com if he could ask Lan the story behind them – he did, and Lan got back: “No story idea behind it, they are both king in their own respective way and territory…so I thought about giving it a shot. Or maybe just another side story adventure behind the life of the Black Panther”. And regarding the background: “Yep, it’s some kind of huge creature ribcage. The art page title: King vs King.” Made me dig the piece that much more! Great classic “vs” image of these 2 kings of the jungle with some nice detail and sweet subtle grey tones. Always dig that with BP. Throw in some Krackle energy and we set! Social/Sharing |

Super beautiful black panther. That Lion man is in a tough spot! Lan composed a mighty fierce battle.

Good looking KING VS KING illustration piece. Fierce cat battle, with BP as the clear winner, but not without a few scratches.

It's funny (not as funny NOW) that I've spent the last couple of weeks searching the net for a nice Medina piece to add to my Philippine art gallery, and of course you post this killer Black Panther piece. Love the great pose, and all the work he put into this one. A great addition to your BP collection.

Lol! Well, glad you like Eric, and hope you find yours soon! Maybe take my post here as another push to get it done! Thanks for the add!

Another slice of the Panther to the ultimate Panther collection. Something truly fulfilling about art that devours the whole board! Congrats!

Good point - totally agree! I have a batch of pieces like this and always love how no part of the board is spared from the goodness! Talk about bang for your buck :) Thanks, Nash!

When I find myself it's time to rumble
Call upon my ancestry
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
And in my hour of darkness
He is standing tall in legacy
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
Let is be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Boseman's words of wisdom
Legacy
And when the brokenhearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be a Panther
Legacy
For though he may be parted
There is still a place that he holds for me
Drawn by Lan Medina
Let them see

Great piece that shows the power and agility of the Black Panther. The bones/thorns really frame the action and the anatomy is just top notch. Great add to your amazing collection my friend!

Fantastic battle scene! But who to root for? A bit tough, because I like all cats. And they are both Kings in their own right. But I gotta go with Black Panther of course!! I mean, look at that energy he is generating in his right hand and forearm, and the way he is leaping into the fray. And yeah, I love the artistic choice of having them battle over the exposed ribcage of a huge creature. Very cool!

Another stunning add, K! 15 new artists so far this year? Incredible! Great work! I really had a lot of fun starting at the very top of this one, working my way slowly down to the bottom, then reversing course and heading all the way back up to the top again. When I got back to the upper left corner (and that incredible surge of energy cascading from the Panther's glove), it was like a firework exploding. Incredible work by Lan on every single square inch of this thing!
Going full bleed is always fun, but when you have such a variety of textures and wash tones to take you to those edges and then spill over, it really puts a piece over the top (so to speak). TEXTBOOK example here, where every detail makes the world and environment seem incredibly rich, intense, and bigger than life, and the tones and textures take you up to (and over) the edge, literally.
But now for the unasked question: could the rib cage belong to another King...? One of the Kongish variety, perhaps...? Beautiful add, K! Congrats!

Yup, 15. Added 21 new artists in 2021 and here in 2022 looking to add at least 22. I'm on my way :)
Glad you dig the piece, and great points as always. Definitely like the worldbuilding one...totally get that sense from the full bleed treatment!
As far as the rib cage? We can wonder. Had another collector bud say it was a krayt dragon :) Thanks for the add, man!

Gorgeous Black Panther piece! Awesome art by Lan Medina! I love his depiction of the Black Panther, lean and powerfully muscular! And how interesting to contrast the man with the King of the Jungle! Two Kings, one fabulous drawing!
