DescriptionI’m on this kick of getting pieces featuring characters from my favorite video games as a kid. Some of y’all saw the Ninja Gaiden commissions I posted a couple months back and here’s another from one of my fave NES games, and game series – Mega Man (MM)! Loved MM 2, 3, and 4…played ‘em ALL the time.Jiggy had this piece on one of Bill’s claims shows and I jumped at it. Gave me the nostalgic feelies and I also dug that sense of storytelling and kind of dread…like we’re taking that fun colorful game but going a little darker in upping the drama factor here. See his nemesis from the first MM game, Cut Man, silhouetted and stalking. MM’s taking a breather and regrouping after taking some damage to his torso and Mega Buster (right arm cannon). Cool stuff. Lastly, that zipatone adds another visual layer, especially as it’s two different tones on MM. John keeps getting better and better particularly in designs in his piece…legit up and comer in the Next Comic Art staple. I posted a Capwolf (see in my gallery earlier this year) by John, now this one, and methinks there may be more :) Thanks, John, Jiggy, and Bill! Social/Sharing |

I'm loving the modern artists returning to zip, and John does it better that most. His lines are always so precise it gives the illusion of digital. Great stuff!

Truer words ne'er spoken, lol! Growing up in rural norther AZ my buds and I were out playing bball, football, riding bikes, etc, etc, outside all day. But when evening hit...time to side scroll!
I got more of these kinda piece comin', no doubt! Got a real feel for it now, as they say :)

I know absolutely nothing about this character. Is this the same Mega Man that Cartman and his friends were all excited about on that one episode of South Park back in the 90's? Either way, looks fun!

Not quite, I think! I didn't watch SP but looked real quick on YouTube and I don't think that's it.
THIS is one of best video games series ever. I'm not a gamer in adulthood but played a lot of NES as a kid and this series of games was a fave. Character is actually known as Rockman in Japan.

Thanks again for picking this piece up KG! Megaman was my favorite series growing up, with 4 being my personal favorite. And who can ignore those incredible soundtracks!

Of course, man! Love the piece and love the series.
Man, 2 through 5 are all great. Not easy for me to choose here. They're all bangers. But as you noted 4 as your fave I feel compelled to chime in.
I'll say 3. I found 2 late. It was already out and established but I was ready for 3 when it came out and was ALL about it. Did not disappoint. And talking about music...the title intro for MM 3 is one of the best tracks in NES history. This is not just my opinion. FACTS :)
I also got your Capwolf (see posted in my gallery) - love how both are so different from each other but still you. Keep up the GREAT work, man!

Love that we get to see a battle damaged Mega Man and also a little glimpse of the world in 3d. The silhouette of Cut Man is nothing short of ominous! It's a fun piece and a great nod to those NES days.

This really brings up some fun nostalgia from playing the game. I really enjoyed Cut Man fir some reason, very simple but fun to play.
